I am thinking about a ride from TX. I have family in the Twin Cities so I could combo the visit. Now do I pull off my first SS1000 on the way up?
Joe
Go for it Joe, There will be plenty of IBA types around to punch your ticket when you get there.

I thinking of selling the idea on a new owner of a FJR to come but I need to know what all is included in the $65. I would think meal Saturday night, shirt and chance at some cool door prizes.

There's a Friday night meet and greet with snacks, hors d'oeuvres and other refreshments. A very cool shirt, no T-shirts here

Saturday night banquet with door prizes and a discounted hotel rate.

Oh, and then there's us and who would want to hangout with us

^ PM'd you our hop-over motel info!

Just a tad under a measly 1200mi for myself.

I chose Quality Inn; Gaylord MI (UP) $60/nite for our hop-over motel (Weds & Sun nites) which is about midway. Getting closer to (or over) high bridge (Mackinac area) was quite expensive.

See y'all there :)

...and this could be the only NAFO East of the Mississippi for a while. Hold it, we're not East of the Mississippi, we're not West of the Mississippi, we're IN the Mississippi.

Rick-
On the website; "Points of Interests" .GPX file (link) is broken. All the rest were fine.

Thanks, we'll work on that.

If there's any way you can squeeze in a ride up to Copper Harbor MI to or from it would be very worth your while. If you do I can give you some great roads and sights.

Thanks Rick, PM me at your convenience :)

I need some routes when I'm at MOA in Minneapolis in 2 weeks (July 23-27). Copper Harbor would be a nice NE route from there and by the looks of it (on the map) ...very scenic!

+1 on Copper Harbor. Rick gave me some great routes after CFO in 09.
KJ, be sure to go to the Gay Bar-they love BMW riders there.

Will do! I've picked up more hot women at GB's than in straight bars. No competition, and most of the ladies say they just like the atmosphere (gotta have dancing tho).

Sounds like Copper Harbor is a must do. Thanks :)

So...you gonna make it to NAFO, or what?
I just don't know at this point. We are in a really terrible drought (much worse than you may hear on the news) so our fire danger up here in the forest is explosive. I have a feeling I won't make the final call on the trip until early September.
