I have a somewhat eccentric Ducati-riding coworker that named his son Magneto.

"Something bike-related, perhaps? But doesn't have to be. Just looking for out-of-the-ordinary monikers... kind of like that special farkle that makes it your bike."

How about Scratch? :D

He looks like his name is Sparky!

"Amsoil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............get over here, boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!".

Oh my, one of those "cute" little dogs...

Good thing is they still look cute after you kick them accross the room for pissing and shiting on your floor..........

anyway....

Name it Fred.

No particular reason. Just got that line from the Flinstones going through my head when I saw the dog..

Ex-father-in-law is a Fred. No mo' Freds!

Stella and I are reading Cesar's Way by Cesar Millan. He's good! Learning lots.

Yeah, "cute" is the operative word here. And yes, from the picture he does look like a "Sparky"... and I do like the sound of it, but I think it's a bit long in the tooth. And I'm afraid of people giving me a strange look when i call the dog... Here Sparky!

Stella's not up yet. I'll show her your suggestions when she wakes.

Here's a list of previous pet names from my past -

Skippy - I musta been six or seven. I didn't name him. He came that way. A beagle. He took off for days at a time.

Misty Allure (but we called her Taffy) - A gorgeous collie. I was in my teens. Neighborhood kids would gush, "There's Lassie!"

Chico - a red-headed conure. Would join us for martinis Friday nights. Two drinks and he was a gonner.

Zeppo - a schnauzer. Rambunctious as all hell. Would tear up our apartment if we left him too long. Gave him to a college professor when I went to graduate school. He lived a good life.

Harpo - Sweetest little champagne toy poodle. He went to my mother-in-law's same time as Zeppo got farmed out, due to grad school. Unfortunately mom-in-law loved little Harpo way too much. Saw him at Christmas and his body was akin to an overstuffed sausage. Poor guy couldn't even jump on the bed cause he was too friggin' fat. Died young due to obesity.

Gummo - Psycho miniature poodle. Loved him well, but was kinda glad when he went to Rainbow Bridge. Hope he's calmed down when I see him.

Sark - He and I shared something I can't put into words. I miss him! In this picture he's in the last year of his life.

And now... here comes a Westie. Should be fun to see how he and the cats get along. Caveman really likes dogs. Lovepie is snootie to all living creatures except me. And Artis is a scaredy cat. Except when it comes to bugs and stuff.

The following material is from a blog I started my first year at Conlee Elementary - Our Stories. It has a bit more about the cats, as well as a link to Rainbow Bridge.

our Westie is named "Mr Pip" from Great Expectations.

As the announcer from the Westminster Dog Show said, " The Westhighland Terrier is not a dog to be ignored"

That's an understatement. If they want something they will let you know.

His favorite spot in our pevious house was a large window in the living room that he liked to look out. One year my wife decided to put the Christmas tree in front of the window. Mr Pip left us a Christmas present, a nice steaming pile under the tree.

Friend of mine had a cat named ***. He said this way no matter what, there would always be *** in the house.

You could also go with Money, cause thats one expensive cat toy you have there....

Boooo, there's your first mistake. He mentalizes everything, and uses no behavioral terms.

You should have read "It's Me or the Dog: How to Have the Perfect Pet" by Victoria Stillwell. She has a show too and actually uses scientifically proven reinforcement and punishment procedures. Try to find out how many professional show dogs Ceaser has trained.

Ceaser's points are good about your mindframe, and body language and about how the dog percieves that, but other than that, he's a ******...

He's the equivalent of Sigmund frued in the dog world, while Victoria Stillwell could be considered a BF. Skinner.

consider...maybe...puddles????????

You'll be wiping them up for some time to come.

Such a macho name....you'll impress the ladies.........here puddles...here boy

Ursa? Ursus Maritimus is a polar bear, Ursa Minor is the Little Bear constellation.

On second thought, maybe I will just go join Odot at the bar.

Just spent a couple hours at COAS Books, a fantastic used bookstore here in Las Cruces. Didn't see that title, but did come away with a number of books geared towards training. When I go to B&N will look for "It's Me or the Dog: How to Have the Perfect Pet".
