The smoke reference was the giveaway for me. Picture taken in early summer 2018 by any chance, before everything west of Big Muddy caught fire?

We’ve attempted to cross GTTS Road twice. In mid June 2017 it was still closed due to snow when we tried to do it west to east. In Sept 2018 it was closed due to fire. We went in from the east and got as far as Logan Pass.

You are right about this being work, or at least being harder than it looks. Not easy to pick a place that is interesting, not an obvious no-brainer but not too obscure, and makes you want to go there.

BINGO Pants! Didn’t take long.

2017, headed to YFO. Or last leg into YFO ran from South Rim Grand Canyon to Mariposa. The late melting snow pack had the major passes across the Sierra Nevadas still closed. We crossed the desert into Cali south of the Sierras and ran up the valley, as we didn’t have the time to go all the way up to Reno/Lake Tahoe to the nearest cleared mountain crossing. I found that road with the Redfishes at the same time, in route to YFO 2017.  That power plant was way cool from the distance, but I was elated to find that road for a different reason.  I wanted to see some Joshua Trees (first for me).  Going to JTNP was going to be 200-ish miles out of our way, and the temperature forecast for that day was around 275 degrees, give or take.  So we passed on that, but were rewarded with those unusual trees on Hwy 164.  I guess that's why I remembered the road.

Here is my turn - this is one of the best kept secrets in all of the south.  It's not very long, but this stretch of ribbon in the heart of razorback country is fantastic!

This was in August of 2015 actually.  We were lucky.  Fire was on east side of the park.  The GTTSR was closed before we got there, and then closed again after we left.  We were staying outside the east side of the park.  We were lucky enough to travel the entire road from east to west, and turn around and do it again on the return.

Late in the day on the return to the east side, things were getting eerie.

Winner Winner, Chicken Dinner.  Without a doubt, this is the most picturesque road in the Ozarks.  Many riders skip it because there are other ways to get "from here to there".  For anyone not familiar, do NOT pass this one up next time.

And now a question, please.  Is it my understanding that one's offering in this game does NOT have to be a road?  it could be destination or any "place"?

Correct! We almost skipped this on our first southwest trip but since we stayed in Grand Junction we drove through it. We were so glad we did. It’s a very scenic road and well worth a drive through the park.
