I have an '08 with zero stalling issues. Bought it new and now have 22k miles on it.

In this poll, I would go with the new one, even though I like my black '08 color better. I think the price of the '08 is too high, or at least, not lower enough compared to the new '11. Accessories on a used bike are worth between zero and 50% of original cost, on this example, they would be worth zero to me because I would not want them.

I hope you have some luck selling your VFR. In my area, Southeast Texas, they don't sell. It is an outstanding bike but people don't want them. I had an '08 which I traded in a new ZX14 a year ago, I had the VFR for two years and loved it but eventually got tired of VTEC and wanted more power. Anyway, the Yamaha dealer had my trade in on the floor for about nine months and finally decided to wholesale it. So now I have the '08 FJR and the '09 ZX 14. If I had to have only one bike, it would be the FJR.

I bought an '08 with 2000 miles earlier this year for $8900. I think that you've got some room in the bargaining area. I talked this guy down from $9999 to $8900 by going to www.cycletrader.com and quoting the price of other, equivalent motorcycles across the country. You're going to have to barter to get a better deal on this one!

I have a 08 and no stalling issues. Go with the one that you like, a good deal is always nice but you will see the bike every day, so go with the color you like. I am sure you will love either model.

I'd go with the 08, even at 9995 that's not a BAD out the door price considering tax. I'm sure you can come down a bit on it.

Add some Hot Grips heated grips to it for $115 and you're set. Much more comfortable than stock grips.

guys, thanks for all the advise...

the 2008 was snapped up by one of my riding buddies, which was cool... and he was apparently much more ready to buy than i was! :)

I went with a 2010 that was new. bought it at invoice and the dealer hooked me up with 2.9% financing... sweet.

i put the two brothers on it (the black one's, friend wanted an even swap that took 5 minutes) and with the power tip, the sound is deeply sublime. and not loud. just nice and deep.

Have a Garauld rack on it, (lent to me for a few day) and love it. i will be ordering one shortly.

I need sliders and like the Motovation no cuts very much.

Probably will add the hot grips, i'm debating between them and the yamaha factory grips... the cost savings is pretty significant if i go with the hot grips...

definitely will add the California Scientific windshield...

I did the Motoman break-in procedure, and changed the oil at 25 miles (a lot of shavings in there! have used this on several other bikes and all are well into 200K miles) and changed again at 100 miles, then again at 500.

I will switch to synthetic at between 5K-8K miles.

So far, I couldn't be happier... haven't even missed my VFR... yet...

i love this bike....

1 week old and i'm pushing 1600 miles. (over 1k just last weekend)

thanks for all the input...

i'm learning a ton on here and hope to be an old FJR sage someday myself...

ride on~

Congrats on the bike... I'm sure you will be without regret.

If your looking for some frugal sliders without compromising on quality check out the OES sliders HERE see if they suite your eye. I have them , and have used them for a zero speed with no complaints.

sweet. so, sounds like the OES are good stuff. was considering the Motovation... but maybe not...

thanks for the info Warpdrv... and for the kind words. it is my humble honor...
