I have a friend who rides a Harley - insert comment here - and he really wants a scala g4. He has spoken to me many times via cell and can't believe I'm on the bike. The problem is that he wears a half helmet -again...insert comment here - and his bike has an Alpine head unit and built in speakers like a car. He wants to hear the sound from the scala through the bike speakers but I'm not sure if that can even be done. I know you can mod the scala to use earbuds; did it to mine. His head unit has a USB input and I can get a 3.5mm to USB audio patch cord. Has anyone ever heard of this working? Even if this would work, he wants no cords :angry2:

I think he's screwed.

Edit: just found this bad boy:

So theoretically he could do the earbud jack mod to the scala, then plug the above unit into it and send the audio via Bluetooth to the Alpine head unit? Yes the head unit is Bluetooth ready.

Thanks Phil but I wasn't looking for opinions on which unit people prefer. Seems like everyone has their own opinion and that's fine. It's why they make different kinds :p I have used Sena also and I prefer the G4.

I'm just looking for input from anyone who has tried anything like I roughly outlined in the OP.

He wants to broadcast from the scala to the head unit? Yes you can do it, but you need a transmitter with it's own power and the battery typically doesn't last long, a couple of hours, and you have to stick it on his head. I did it the reverse direction - I plugged the BT transmitter into the old Garmin 550 and paired it to my BT headset so I could listen to the 550 in stereo.

This one had great reviews, worked for me.

and can be gotten for cheap here --
