I couldn't resist. I knew I'd do it sooner or later. I put down a deposit on one of these today and it will be here in April.

Keeping the FJR BTW.

Too Cool! Could I be your new best friend? I have the matching T shirt from Moto GP last summer. Does your insurance man know what you are up to?

Very nice. I can't decide if I like it better in bumble bee or red. Very different looks and both very cool. There was a time when I thought only insane children rode these things but lately I have found myself looking very closely at them. Guess I'm growing younger and less sane.

I have a perfect record but insurance will be a little spendy until August and then I get some sort of "mature rider discount" or something. I think the price Geico quoted was $512/yr after August. Until then, $800/yr! Ouch. Progressive, those ass hammering *******s, was even more!

I don't know why it's so expensive around here and I'll do some shopping when I get a chance.

I know what you mean on color. I went back and forth between the raven and the yellow. Yellow is actually kind of loud for me but it's also very visible, and does look way cool IMO. The raven R1 is gorgeous but I don't know if I want to deal with black. The galaxy blue on the FJR is bad enough as it shows dirt and dust easily.

The only other problem with the visibility of yellow is that it will attract the attention of LEOs. :agent:

the insurance issue is the main reason I went an 06 FZ1 instead of the raven R1- Herein Texas- Insurance is so high- I am more than happy with my FZ

How old do you have to be to get a mature rider discount? 65? Older?

An R1 was over $2400 via Geico and $3600 with Sentry/Dairland and $3250 at Progressive.

5 Years on a Honda XL apparently don't count for squat. No tickets or at fault accidents either.

XLR8 that is Shweeeeeet! Plan on mounting a V-1 detector with that new bright yellow machine of yours. I think she's going to attract a lot of LEO attention. LOL. Congrats & enjoy the new ride.

I'm only 43 and they said the mature rider thing is something they give to customers who have been insured with them for two years or more.

I thought one of the reasons the R1 was so spendy was because they get wadded up so much. However, they told me that after Harleys, it's one of the top bikes on the theft list.

Thanks everyone for the positive comments about the yellow. It was a debate for me between yellow or black. Yellow is a lot of bling for me as I usually prefer more subtle colors.

My sales guy has a yellow R6. That thing looks like a alien. He said that on the way to work the cops follow him though town. The yellow is going to attract some attention for sure but it seems all sportbikes attract attention.

I'll just have to be a good boy! B)

Did you try giving Dairyland a call.

They seem to have really good rates... Worth a call

I need to do that. Do you have to insure everything with them or will they just do bikes?

State Farm gave me the BEST rate, on my 2001 R-1.

$271.00 year Full coverage. Had to insure a car too.

Heres the deal state Farm, as far as I can tell, insures per CC size.

I have a clean record, 51 years old, MSF class, good credit score.

coverage is 100/500/250

with 250 deduct comp, and 1000 collision deduct.

SPANKED Dairey Land and Progressive

Progressive on my fjr wanted like $2000 a year for the same coverage I had on my 1100 Vstar.

Dairyland I paid $30 a month for 9 months. The coverage is state minimum though.

You don't need to insure a car with them they are a very popular motorcycle insurance company.

james1300 has some great coverage amounts for what he is paying...
