For me it would be easy... "Honey, I want an 08 because it reminds me of you. Black, sexy, smooth, refined, powerful, enviable, a little pricy, and almost never sucks."

Honzo, with this you have almost completely redeemed yourself. Almost...

Not to call anyone out specifically, but a marriage/relationship counselor (or Dr. Phil - take your pick) would have a field day with some of the responses on this thread..!

I have a way of getting my wife on board with my thoughts and wild schemes. I can help you.

I just need you to answer a few questions:

(1) What is yours and your wifes age range(s)?

(2) How long have you been married?

(3) What do you do for fun?

(4) What does she do for fun?

(5) How do you have fun together (keep it clean, please)?

(6) Does your wife ride?

(7) Classify your financial and job situation: (a) no debt, steady income; (B ) some debt, but manageable with your income; or (c ) you and your wife hate your job(s) and/or have shaky job situations.

Sorry that these questions may be so personal but you've already taken your personal issue to this forum. Besides, the answers will help me tailor a response most suited to your needs.

Some other people have been in your shoes:

this guy

And here's an article intended for the opposing (anti-motorcycle) opinion:

linky

It seems that Steps 4 & 5 might be considered "cruel and unusual." ;)

Go buy the bike and get her a set of Hard Krome pipes for hers.

Reminds me of the time my wife and I were at a wedding several years back. She had on this great looking red dress. I went and told the DJ to play that song Lady in Red. I asked her to dance. That was the first time I ever danced with her. We had been married 25 years at the time. You talk about paying dividends.......................

Fast forward 6 years and She buys me an 07 FJR for fathers day as a surprize.

Sheesh I forgot what my point to all that was. Nevermind.

By now, you should...

A. Have a scheduled delivery for the 08 and reservations at HER favorite restaurant.

B. Have a scheduled appointment with another marriage counselor.

C. Have a scheduled appointment with a good divorce attorney and a fresh load of **** ordered.

Give it up! Which is it???

HA, !!!!!!!!!!! Tell her we want to meet her really bad cuz she must be cool to let you have all those toyz and the best place to meet all of us is a place like NAFO...

NAFO Link Please...................... (someone??)

Hey Honzo! :vampire: I'm not sure how to take that part about 'almost never sucks'... but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt! :D :D :D

Ok i want a new 08 fjr never had one never drove one but want one so bad . The yamaha dealer in northern maine just got a new one in .
So i have tried every excuse to get that 08 she says wait till 09 maybe they will change some things and get more options.

What are some of the excuses you guys have used ???? that have worked on your wife to get your new bike . :)

The only thing it took for me, was for my wife to sit on one with me, with a trunk already mounted, in the dealer's lot.

(She hated riding with me before, but after that, she was sold.)

She felt more comfortable on this one, right in the dealer showroom.

Her comment to me the night I brought it home... I love it.

She's only been for a couple very short spins around the block, as the weather's been crappy on the weekends. I've put 650 miles on mine the last couple of weeks. She'll be going with me the first good weather weekend day we get. She's very anxious to go ride with me now, whereas before, she dreaded a ride on my old bike.

My suggestion, go have a seat on one with a trunk / backrest on it. It may work out for you, like it did me.

Well, since she rides, has she ridden on the FJR yet? Once she rides one she'll MAKE you buy one and will probably want to sell that Vstar

And you did say money is not a problem, you could always do like "ZOOM" and "herfjr" here on the forum and go out and buy two (his and hers) matching FJRs...

I told my wife when I met her,

I rode bikes before I met you, I'll ride bikes while I'm with you, and if necessary, I'll ride bikes after your gone.

And it's the classic delima, Maybe I'll wait till next year, I'm sure next year it's going to be faster, a better color, new styling etc... believe me, there's so many folks on the Blackbird forum still waiting for next years Blackbird to come around again, Aint gonna happen.

If you like the Black one buy it! and the only thing that is guaranteed for the next years models, is a price increase.

Oh and as a wise man once told me, " It's easier to get forgiveness from a wife, than permission!""

This is what I did. I took a contract job 1000 miles from home for three months. About two weeks into it I bought my 07, had someone take a picture of me on it with my phone, and sent it to her. By the time I rode it home 10 weeks later, she was over it.
