Just found this thread.

You're living the dream, Donnie. Keep it up!

Looking forward to seeing you in a few days.

BTW - It looks like Spot is no longer updating. (it also took a long break in Colorado)

Altitude sickness? Dude yer still in the Flatlands.

Wait til you hit Council Bluffs. The ever changing altitude there is going to make you sick as a dog

Arrrgh. In training for Dolly the sheep...

Musings

Stayed in Stuart, IA last night.

Iowa fair and straw poll are going on

Lincoln NE looks like a nice town. Big, new looking, lots of construction on freeways into and out of town.

I paid 44 dollars for my dive room last night

Corn growing - IA farmers are amazing, the corn is growing bamboo thick on terraced and contoured hill sides. Looking at corn that is 6 foot tall, each stalk nearly exactly the same height, as the rows curve and arc up and down the terrain looks really cool. I wonder how they grain drill the seed?

Stuart seems like a nice little town.

In NE and IA, the fast food workers are white, speak English, are courteous and friendly.

Heading east sucks - due to time changes I'm losing hours and light.

Why do I keep waking up later and later when I should be on the road early in the cool of dawn?

Poh-Poh are everywhere generating revenue..

Hybrid corn, genetically altered to grow on hillsides.

They were glad to see you, too. They're glad you've left.

Uhm...you're not in Kalifornia any more. Welcome to "flyover" country...y'know, the place our "leaders" think is a fairy tale and can't believe people are still like that!

S'okay, I'll bet it works in reverse when West bound....

It's either old age.....or you're getting older...

For some of us, we need less sleep and rise early. Of course, we don't party much! :)

Poh-Poh are everywhere generating revenue..

Beeee gooood!

The power plant you saw may be the Cooper Nuclear Power Plant. If you were between Lincoln and Grand Island, then it probably was.

That arch thing over the interstate is the sorriest excuse for a tourist trap in NE. It's the Great Platte River Road Arch. Catchy name, right?

It snows in Lincoln. A lot. That construction is to help our third largest city on Saturdays (known as the football stadium where the Cornhuskers play). (hate them)

NE has a helmet law. I think it just says "put something on your head". IA does not.

That corn growing has more to do with the rich soil than the genetics. Although the genetics doesn't hurt. Fields and fields of feed corn and ethanol juice that is.

Also, as you noticed, they grow windmills. I think IA produces the most wind energy. I think TX is pissed about that.

Wait, you mean not all minimum wage service industry jobs are held by the whities?

Ride safe!

Don, The info you're looking for is in yer PM box.. :p

Oh and you're going to see another covered trap just outside Chi town on 80.. Food court and trinkets

Looks like you'll be heading through Toronto Monday or Tuesday... if you want to avoid traffic be sure to head through between 11:00 and 14:00. this should give you the lightest traffic flow for a weekday. still no guarantee but is it the holiday season so you should be OK. any later than 3:00 and you may find yourself stuck for a while all the way to the 35/115 split.

ride safe! see ya on Thursday.

Well.. seeing as Don can't report due to technical? difficultys, I figured I'd fill ya'll in.

He's holed up in a sleazeball hotel with a 57 year old call girl who passed him naked in her convertible today..

I do believe it's in Michigan City Indiana, but the background noise of her toothless maw drowned out our boi.. Said today was fun but he can't wait till tomorrow to hook up with Dolly again..

I dunno though.. I kept hearing words like divorce and marriage in the background an' I'm sure he's been drinking..

He's actually safe and warm someplace around New Buffalo/Marine city

Thanks Ed! I'm in need of the oil change, an idle bump (where the hell is that adjuster, anyway?), and possibly a new headlight for the right side. It's weird the way it is now.. One huge bright spot in the upper right corner of the lens.

Tomorrow at Bust's la casa, the following morning (oh gawd) on to Stowe 'ish land. It's about 12 hours, IIRC..

Tx again for all your help and for being way kewl..

You ain't fooling me, I knowz fer a fact you had Dolly de-toothed!
