At least they didn't do that friggin' GREAT blue color again!
Nope...that was the 2016. The Raven 2017's are just leftover 2015's from Canada

Naw, I had it right the first time regardless of any fancy lining out. 2016, really? It could have been 2005, 2006, or even 2012 IIRC.

And I was trying to figger a way to get one of them 2015 from Canada; they get all the good stuff first!
2015's in Canada were same as yers...... '14ES was black, A was root beer.

Oops, right you are. '15ES also available in ***-Fault Grey.

The big question is, did the Mother Ship fix the issues for the '17 that is haunting the '16s?
You mean the issue with the ignition switch causing the CEL to come on? You'd think so since it's costing them a fair amount of money/time to turn the CEL off for everyone who has been taking them in. The question is, are they going to fix it for us 2016 owners??

Did anyone notice the seat? Looks like some neat stitching and the FJR logo embroidered. I like it.

That sounds like the optional "Comfort" seat. Which in my experience is little different from the standard seat, but suits me. (I got mine free in a Yamaha promotion.)

Since the color is different from last year doesn't take make it a Gen V??
Gen I was the valve stem seal and valve guide issue.

Gen II was a stuck instantaneous fuel usage display error, fired key switches, ECU FI altitude errors and a big dash of spiders on the side.

Gen III seems to be very rough engine performance needing the throttle body replaced and multiple OBD II errors.

Color has never defined the Gens, it remains to seen what funky issues the '17 has to see if it's a new Gen.

Gen 1 was also the TPS failures causing "very rough engine performance" and the recall to replace them. Whether that is the root cause of the Gen 3 version of "very rough engine performance" is yet to be seen.

Where's the brilliant new seat and the helmet locks. Two thinks you definitely need on a touring bike wouldn't you say??.In actual fact it looks identical to my 14.

Did I miss a discussion/thread somewhere?? What "very rough engine performance" is present in (some of) the Gen 3s? Only thing I've read are the comments r.e. the Check Engine Light (CEL) problem associated with a slow key turn or turning off the bike w/ the kill switch (and an error that seems to refer to a kickstand error)...haven't seen anything about rough engine performance.

There have been several 3rd Gen owners who have reported having stumbling during acceleration. The diagnosis by Yamaha of these under warranty has been to replace the throttle body assembly.

There is some suspicion that this is a repeat of the TPS problems that 1st Gens had early on in the FJR lifetime, but because Yamaha is replacing the entire TB assy we do not know for sure.

Here's a link to one of the discussions: 2014 Stumble on Accel

Ah -- okay, thanks; I was aware of that issue. For some reason, I was thinking that post referred exclusively to Gen 4 (or improved Gen 3, however one defines the 6-speed 2016/17 model). Goes to show I shouldn't post in the morning before my first cup of coffee.

I don't know if this was mentioned already or not but I saw the bike at the AimExpo and it was all black. No silver trim like the pictures

I'm sooooo glad it's not red again. I'm trying to hold off until the next major change but regardless, the next time it is red, my checking account is dead! I've never had so many people fawn over any motorcycle I have ever owned.
Ditto on that!! It's embarrassing when people come over to my bike and rave on about the beauty of the RED while my riding buddies sit there with their blue and grey bikes.

Embarrassing for them, maybe...

Bert's Motorcycle Mall in Covina California has a 2015 parked next to a 2017. Two different bikes. The 17 even looks larger in a scary sort of way.
