I'd forgotten what an amazing experience it is being able to watch a mom going through the process of giving birth. My daughter Kelly's contractions began about 2 weeks early, at home, around 8 pm. She was a busy girl after 11 pm when she checked in at the hospital, reaching 4 cm at around 3 am. By 1, she was at 10 cm and doing a lot of howling. That's when the doc came in, the covers came off, and grampa was ushered out into the hallway.

At 1:30 pm on Thursday, Feb 21, I heard the first cries of 6 lb, 1 oz Savannah Lynn House through the door. It may have been the longest 40 minutes of my life as I waited in the hall for the nurses to open that door.

She sure is cute. And I sure am happy. Now if I can just find a motorcycle-ready car seat for her...

I had no idea I could fall in love so fast. I don't even know what color her eyes are yet.

Congratulations, Gary!

Beautiful granddaughter and I'm sure a very happy and tired mama. ;)

With all the things that can go wrong in childbirth, it's a miracle every time it goes smoothly. Have fun getting to know your new girl!

Congrats Gary, I bet it seems not that long ago you were holding Kelly like that, kids grow up fast. Now your farkel money will go to spoiling your grand daughter..

She was pretty tired indeed. The whole ordeal spanned about 17 hours. It was a textbook delivery, except that it took awhile. Happy that mom and daughter are doing so well.

I was thinking the same exact thing. It's been 22 years, but I recall a great deal about that December evening in 1990. However, my daughter Kelly wasn't nearly as healthy. It was touch and go for awhile.

Concerning the farkling money, I'm pretty much done farkling the Yammie any way.

Congrats Gary and momma! That is way cool. Time to start thinking of little girl riding gear and getting her a little 50cc. Sounds like it's time for granpa to start his duties. :yahoo:

Thought you got a new bike from the title of the thread. This is even better!

Congratulations to everybody. And Kelly looks pretty good, considering what she just went through. Uh, Gary, is that your riding vest, though?

*edit* Just went back and looked at the pics again. On your original of that second shot, can you read your watch? That's how I can always remember my daughter's exact birth time--a picture of me holding her when she was 10 minutes old, with my watch showing. 26 years ago.

Ahhhhhh Yes! That smile on your face says it all Gary. It is wonderful to have a little one following you around all day.

There's nothing like it. The bonus prize is that you can hand them over to Momma when you start to get a whiff of a stinky diaper.

Gotta Love it! Lmao. :))
