Hello everyone. New FJR owner here in the Las Vegas area, used to ride a lot of sport and off road bikes in my younger days. Actually retired from off road racing just about 2 yrs ago and decided to slow things down and got a Stratoliner and lately a Harley. Well, it got too slow too soon, and since I got the FJR, I found the sweet spot. I just thought I'd share. I've always owned Yamaha sport bikes, R6's and R1 (although I only raced KTM's off road) so fitting only to look at the Yamaha FJR, went to the dealer and instantly, it got me at hello.

Welcome to the collective. Resistance was futile. I also did the cruiser thing for a while, but never looked like a pirate. The FJR is just so much better for the touring. See you soon at a gathering.

Welcome!

There's a few, ur, maybe more than a few that are converted HD'rs... Some of us still have both!

Hope to see you on the road sometime - go to one of the gatherings, meet some folks, have fun riding that thing!

A guy moving from a Harley to an FJR reminds me very much of a guy moving from a Blackberry to a modern phone (iPhone/Android):

"Holy crap! I never know a phone bike could do stuff like this!!!!"

Well done, nice choice. Why did you pick the AE?
The AE is nothing like I've owned before, and I have owned quite a few bikes. I dared to try it, so far there's a learning curve, it has it's positives and negatives, but I adapted pretty well now. Besides, it's the only Sport Tourer that separates itself from the others, just my opinion.
