I need a new Truck I've been looking at the Chevy someone at work said I should look at the Titan.

I like the looks of the Chevy better. and I'm 99% sure I'm gonna get a 4x4 unless I just come across a deal to good to pass up.

I want a 2001- 2002, I don't see any reason to buy new.

I hate shopping for cars...........anyone have any tips?

Thanks

Well I've been a Chevy guy for years but last year they pissed me off. The fuel pump went out in my 2000 Chevy 1 ton work truck at 90,000 miles, The mechanic said "I never see these fuel pumps go past 65,000 miles. Cost installed... $850.00. Two weeks later the fuel pump goes out in my personal truck (2000 GMC Sonoma) at 62,000 miles. Cost installed... $975.00.

I think my next truck will be a Dodge.

Oh, the tranny went out in my Chevy at 65,000 miles.

Uncaged,

Ahh, you might want to look at the latest recalls..."Ford announces 3rd largest recall EVER!" Don't park a Ford 4WD drive in your garage, it may burst into flames. FYI, Ford also had the largest recall in history and the 4th largest also. 3 out of the top 5 in this case is bad...really bad.

Being a pickup truck kind of guy and having owned a bunch of them I would probably say you couldn't go too wrong with any of the domestic trucks. I currently drive a Toyota Tundra and, frankly, wouldn't waste my money on another one.....I would buy a Harley before I bought another Tundra. Prior to that I had a Dodge which ergonomically was the most comfortable truck I ever owned. It kind of sucked when I was buried in the sand on the beach when the four wheel drive went out, but I would buy another one. Ford, tough truck where you get quite a bit for the money. Chevy, a workhorse but kinda of cheap and chintzy on the inside. All of them gas guzzling cages.......

The Chevs in the fleet here have had horrendous fuel system issues. The Fords have been very reliable in comparison. I worked for Chev for years, but now would not own one. Were I truck shopping, it'd be Saki city for me, unless size was important. In that case-Ford would be Stop 1.

Like the FJR Everything has problems. I like my chevy. The ride is great and quiet. Yeah they can give you issues like everthing in this world. I have 70,000 milews and my fuel pump is just starting to whine. I'll probably replace it soon but hey it made it this far. I know the chevy's with the push button 4 wheel drive can have problems with a servo motor. Don't ask me how I know. :cownoy:

I own an 04 Titan Crew Cab SE 2wd model, bought new in April 04. It has just under 15,000 miles, so far, no mechanical troubles.

The Titan is comfortable, has more interior room than every other 1/2 ton truck and handles very well too. Plenty of power to pull my enclosed cargo trailer with 2 motorcycles and gear. The Titan has received top honors for towing ability from numerous magazines and based on my personal experience, I agree fully with the magazine's findings.

Some Titan and Armada owners have complained of front brake issues. I received a notice in the mail a few days ago that stated Nissan has extended the warranty on 04 and 05 Titans and Armadas to 3 yrs and unlimited miles, for the known brake problem only. That's pretty good customer service in my mind. Of course, the domestic manufacturers have much better (longer) standard factory warranties.

I've had a few "entertainment system" related issues, such as the clock on the radio and a malfunction with the DVD system. Also, the factory spray-in bedliner began to "bubble" earlier this year. Nissan replaced the entire inner bed to correct the problem, no issues since.

What I don't like....interior materials are a bit "soft"....meaning, the dash and associated plastic scratches easily. The seat fabric feels thinner than seat fabric in other trucks (Ford and Chevy), although I'm not sure if this means durability is lower.

Overall, I'm happy with the truck and my wife absolutely loves it. Only downside is fuel mileage, which is expected with this type of vehicle.

FYI:

That is incorrect.

Ford has been using SOHC and DOHC engines in its cars and trucks for years.

Dodge and Chevy still primarily use OHV engines.

Nothing wrong with them at all.

Isn't the new Corvette LS7 engine a 500HP OHV?

Not to mention the 8.0L+ Dodge Viper motor?

Both world class powerplants.

Dodge

I have an '86 Ram Royal ,, comming up on 200,000 miles

other than normal wear n tear it has been bullit proof

318 2 barrel 2 wheel drive long bed ,, no damage or rust,, I just love this old truck

and it is still running strong and looking good

I have been looking at a replacement for it ,, it's just time ,, looking for some modern comfort and tech advances ,, I have looked at Ford,,Chevy,,GMC and Dodge

I am leaning toward the new Ram ,,

Galxy, what is it that's making you lean towards the Dodge, I'm leaning towards the F-150 my self. financing/power/standard options/looks.

I'm just curious.

First of all, What is the Truck going to be used for?

Light duty, short trips, commuting, Get whatever floats your boat

Heavy duty, off road, trailer towing, long distance, Dodge with a Cummins diesel.

Out of all the Trucks We see out in the bush in Northern Alberta, the Dodge/ Cummins probably stands up the best, gets getter fuel milage (20 + mpg averaged over a tank of fuel on each of my last 3 trucks), has better trailer towing than any other, reliable engine, warrenty to 100,000 miles. And, so I've been told, doesn't govern out at 100 mph like the Ford and Chevy.

Here is a link that compares, Ford f-150, Dodge Ram, Chevy Silverado,Toyota Tundra.

The Ford has more HP and higher torque and more standard fetures.

Compare click here

Ford Advantage click here

Thanks again for everyones feed back, you guys are great. :D

the Ram just fits me better,, I am 6' 1" 240 ,, I like the toughness of this truck,, I have had great performance in the past ,, and I like the way it looks ,, and I'm a MOPAR kinda guy ,, Hemi's n such ,,

Amazing how a Ford sponsered comparision would rate the Ford highest..... I think I would look for a little bit less biased source for info..
