Chevy guy here... previously a K1500 stepside (91). Tranny went out, but that's what happens when you throw a supercharger and locking differential in it... well, that's what happens when you USE a supercharger and locking differential anyway. ;)

I'm still in the Chevy family, but needed to change to something a little less "functional" and a little more civilized than yer basic truck. I'm now saddled with a 2004 Chevy Avalanche - 1500 Z71 package, loaded with everything except nav system and/or DVD (no roof rack either - it's fugly!). BTW... you can get an FJR in the back. ;)

I've had zero mechanical problems with it since day one and expect it to stay that way for at least another two years. I've had a few minor electrical issues, like my mirrors forgetting the difference between my settings and my wife's (she's 5'2" on a good day). No leaks from the rear panels, sunroof or removable window (which was my main concern when I got it).

My step-father has the 2500 Avalanche and reports about the same results, other than having to redo his brake rotors (which is probably because he uses the thing to tow a 36 foot boat).

In my opinion, ALL of the import brand trucks feel "cheesy" to me. Too spartan. Kind of like the manufacturers built all the guts first, then realized two weeks before it was supposed to go on the market that seats and dash board would be a good thing to have.

Just my two cents... another happy redneck Chevy whore. :D

I agree with you Smthng, the one thing about my Titan I do not like is the material (plastic/fabric) used for the dash and seats. I like the ergonomics of the dashboard switches/buttons/etc, but the materials are a bit "cheesy".

I'm Glad I chose to buy a Ford, after reading that........hahaha :D

Nice write up jestal, very informative.

I could never bring myself to buying a Nissan simply because the exterior looks like it was designed by a caveman. Big square blocks and straight sides. Looks like the "design" team was told to keep the metal forming costs to a minimum and use straight sheet stock wherever possible. Probably refugees from the Ford design team who worked on the new F150. The thing looks like a 1980's Transformer toy. But then the Japanese auto manufacturers have cornered the market on designing bland looking vehicles(Camry, Accord, Maxima, etc.)

Speaking of bad car designs, how about the new Ford 500??? Looks like a parts bin car reminiscient of Johnny Cash's "One Piece at a Time" Cadillac. Tail lights appear to be ordered from an aftermarket supplier of Toyota Camry lights. The grill are all the leftovers from the late 90's Expeditions. Headlights leftover from the Crown Vic. Roof appears to be from an Audi. But then what would you expect from a company focusing on it's stock price rather than the products it makes...

:nuke:

Nice write up rentaroo! good information as well.

I'm still glad I bought a Ford, I didn't really buy it because where it was made, I like the Product, I believe Ford makes a great truck. I like the style and the features Plus the $45 hundred dollar rebate didn't hurt..haha

Welp, I'm glad I asked the question of what truck to buy look what it started!! :D

I learned allot from you too! :)

I presently own a Isuzu that's getting traded in tomorrow for a new FORD F-150

The Rodeo gave me no problems just need something bigger.

I also own a 1988 Ford F-150 with 125 thousand on it. It still runs great and passed Smog with no problems. Other things are wearing out though and has no modern safty eqipment like air bags etc...Oh no. I used the Word Modern :D

So I'm a believer in Ford Trucks. I thought about getting a Titan just for a change, but after much study I have gone back to my roots The "Ford"

I really enjoyed reading your conversation good insight! :assasin:

Thank you so much! :cownoy:

Good luck with the new truck.

I've owned nothing but Fords, and one Dodge.

The only "import" I've ever purchased were motorsickles.

PLEASE STOP READING HERE IF YOU ARE POLITICALLY CORRECT AS THERE IS A MAJOR COMPLETELY NON - PC RANT FOLLOWING:

Anyway, I've never ever really understood why this country has started selling itself off a piece at a time. Why do we allow all the things mentioned in these posts to happen?

WTF is up with our obsessive TURN EVERY ******* BLIND EYE AND GIVE EVERYTHING to Israel? I am still trying to figure that **** out too.

Not to mention ALL THE ILLEGAL ALIENS here. I live in California, and it makes me sick to my stomach to think that people ACTUALLY WANT TO GIVE illegal aliens drivers licenses. They already get free schooling, free medical, free get out of jail cards etc.

There are lots of signs here IN SPANISH ONLY. There is LITTLE ARMENIA and Koreatown, etc.

I'd love to see "LITTLE AMERICA" or Anglo Saxon Ville in these other countries. Does that exist, NOPE.

It's utterly disgusting what has happened here in the last 40 years.

B) Good choice I have had Chevys and Dodge and Fords and I just bought a New F150 supercrew with the 5.4 after I had the bad fuel injector and sparkplug replaced it runs great and is the quietest and most ergo friendly truck I have ever owned . What sold me was the way the thing is built , heavy duty compared to the other choices.

Good Luck I think you will be very happy.

Thanks, Dan.

:agent: Hey XJRGUY your rant is right on. I have lived in California all my life and also am sick of the outright give away of our jobs and sovierenty. California has turned into a lawless State. Moving to Montana.

Thanks, Dan.
