My daughters started Junior High this week and with that approaching I've had this growing sense of dread that my little girls were about to really grow up. I decided there was only one thing I could do. Buy them gear, suit them up and hopefully let them catch the two-wheeled bug. I figured that if they liked it, a rider/passenger comm system would be a great way to ensure I stayed connected with my soon to be teenagers.

This last sunday they each had their first real taste of getting on public roads. I think those seeds are taking root since they've started talking about taking longer rides.

Awesome to have the kids ride with you. My daughter loves to ride too. She is 18 now and talks of getting her own bike. It is good to start them out right with all the proper gear and riding instruction. Definitely a very special way to bond with the kids.

Up until now it's been so hard to find decent gear. Still hard to fit the bean pole, but at least we're starting to see options.

I agree. Except for the high end options that offer tailoring it is hard to find gear for kids. I am fortunate now that the gear that fits my wife fits my daughter. right now that is all I need as only one can ride at a time! the daughter will have to get her own if she gets a bike!

Awww, brings a tear to my eye.

You have no idea how fast these days will be gone. I was just at my oldest daughter's house, playing with her 4 mo. old boy.

Thats' AWESOME!!! :yahoo:

My youngest daughter is my new pillion also. She dreaded motorcycles and one day I jokingly aske dher if she wanted to run to the store with me on the FeeJ. She said yes! I could hardly contain myself. Got her all outfitted, and she now loves it.

Every now and then while I'm watching them go on about their business, I swear I can hear the rustle of time racing by... All we can do is reach out there and try to snag good memories when we can.

About 9 years ago, I recorded them singing "I'm a little teapot" and still listen to that every few months. Gotta love being a dad.

I can still remember the joy of waiting at the end of the driveway for my Dad to come home, then climbing onto the pillion to ride to the garage. A few blinks later, I took my own daugher to college on the back of my bike.

Friends asked (when they saw her helmet) if she had come on a bike. No, I got shot out of a cannon. It's faster that way. (A response that her Dad often uses). No really? You rode with your boyfriend? No, my Mom!!!!!

Gotta love it. They grow up so fast.
