After 7K on the stock tires it was time to get some new ones. After listening to recommendations from others on this forum I chose the Pilot Road 2 CT.

I got the front for $127 and the rear for $163, installed out the door was $407 from Thousand Oaks Yamaha. Don't know if that's a good deal, just thought I would let others who might be in the area know.

Wow what a difference these tires make. :yahoo:

I only have 7K miles of experience on the FJR so I don't consider myself an expert. But the difference was noticeable from pulling out of the parking lot. The bike just feels a lot more nimble and handles so much smoother. These tires made about as much difference to the handling as the suspension adjustments on the FAQ page. I'm really happy with the first impression.

TO Yamaha is having a sale and I'm considering purchasing the following: :clapping:

Two Brothers carbon fiber mufflers $675

Power Commander III EX $262

Air Filter (don't remember the brand) $55

Installation $180

Does anyone else have this or a similar setup, is it worth the $1100? Is any of this stuff difficult to install? Or is it pretty cheap insurance to pay the $180 installation?

Everything on your list is pretty straightforward, no more than a good couple hours oughta do it for ya.. Shouldn't take any more smarts than say, Bluesy to figure out how to install all of it..

I'd say buy beer with the installation fee.

JMHO.

My last set was $412 installed, your price sounds better to me....

I'm over 7K on my roads, they are lasting much better than any other tire I've tried.

Thanks for the pricing info. They are claiming that they are selling everything 25% off, but after searching around a bit there prices are good but not that much better than everyone else's.

Yeah I think I'll get the beer. That way if it don't work I can get drunk.

Just out of curiosity how did this post end up in Never-Ending Pointless Recurring Threads. I feel so demoted, violated...

That seems like an excellent price on the Two Bros Exhaust for carbon fiber. I have the Two Bros M5's in carbon fiber and really like them with the P1 silencers. Without them they are bit too loud for me. You really don't need the Power Commander IMO unless you really want it. Personally I don't think they are much value unless you have a custom map made specifically for your bike on a Dyno. I would hope that for $55 the air filter is a K&N. Between the air filter and the pipes it shouldn't take them more than hour to install, probably less. Never did a Power Commander on the FJR but on a cruiser they take about 10 minutes to install so I think they are making some of their money back on that labor quote. Again, just my opinion.

Do be careful of listening to some of the "Nort Easterners". Particularly those who are fond of sheep.

Yeah, fresh rubber always feels great.

Like that day every month when ya put on clean underwear, and find a woman to use that rubber you've been saving.

Fixed it for ya!

I'm not sure why you bother swapping to an oiled filter on the FJR. More maintenance to do and if you forget to oil it,

On a carbureted V-Twin extra air, rejetting and freer pipes makes some sense. Not so sure on the FJR. But the cans are better sounding than stockers, I'm sure.

That is the beauty of a motorcycle. Yours to farkle as YOU wish.

Installation of all items listed isn't too bad.

I'm always amazed at how some of you guys can get that kind of milage out of any tires.

Good Job! :clapping:

He did better than average getting 7K out of OEM rubber. I had the BT's and they lasted 4200 with the front going first. I was surprised at the wear, usually the stock tires last pretty good as I'm building confidence in the new ride. Plus, I put that 4200 miles on the interstate and my Florida commute was all straight roads down in Daytona. Next set was used exactly the same way with only a single trip to NC lasted 5800 and they where Road Smarts. And then the PR2's were tried last year, they last the longest. Love the PR2 rear.

But, I do think most other tires are better than the two types Yamaha has puts on.

In the past I've used K&N's and have come to the conclusion that you pay a lot for adding another maintenance item. I have a Emgo paper element on mine, dang dirt roads.
