I bet they don't sell very many of 'em to all those water bike owners who got kicked to the curb, as was reported here some time back.

What's going on with Indian? I was looking at their website and the Scout looks pretty cool. Especially if it has the 100 cid motor!

I saw the first public showing with Kyle and Richard yesterday.

It is very art deco and big. The downside for me is another

V-twin engine and belt drive. ABS looks like its not going

to be on it either. Still, I think it will apeal to a lot of other

people who are looking for something different. I wish them

well

Based on 2D pics this bike looks like a home run, for its market. If it has enough power, handling, brakes and comfort to run with a GL 1800 (an extremely capable BIG motorcycle...) it will be quite the bike. The design is very striking, fresh and integrated. Hats off to Victory's in-house Industrial Designers who are credited with creating this bike's design.

Form wise their use of the accent color to ENHANCE the bike visually is in stark contrast to my '06 FJR where the silver slashes through the bike and destroys any cohesive look. This design has the potential to become as iconic as the old (real) Indian became. If the bike performs as well as it looks they will be hard pressed to fill demand and the GL 1800 will need an overhaul!

DFO

Maybe, but I doubt very many in the market for a Wing would look at one of these in the same way that I doubt very many people cross-shop Wings and the big Harley tourers either.

I don't think it will change any Goldwing buyers. For one: No reverse!

I've parked my FJR a few times where I wish I had a reverse. Also, the engine

is not up to the Goldwings either. I think the new 88 twin cam Harley is way better

then whats in the Victory. And I'm sure a New wing with a power windshield is not

far away either. Thats my two cents for all its worth.

I owned 2 Vics before I bought a FJR ( which I bought because they kept backing up the release date on this model),and It will take seeing it fly by me to make a decision on the looks. I did ride a 100 inch ,6 speed Hammer model last year at the local Vic dealer ( RJ PERFORMANCE in OTTUMWA IA) and it is a nice motor. With the overdrive, for a cruiser ,It would run down the 4 lane at about80+mph and turning 2400 rpm if I recall ,where my 5 speed TC model was turning 600 rpm more. One thing I know is they require little to no service work, and you can run the snot out of them. the 6 speed makes the motor effortless for the highway. any how I am glad I went the way I did(LOVE MY FJR) but I still have a soft spot for VIC ,cause they are made in IOWA and HARLEY needs some competition.Oh and they handle way better than a HD. only time will tell.

Given the Wing's powerful boxer 6 combined with a sport bike style frame, the performance, handling and ride of the big bike is outstanding (I've had 2...) and I would be surprised if a V twin with a tube frame could begin to match the GL 1800. However, the styling of the 2 bikes is night and day with the new Vision being a dramatic, fresh step forward compared to the sedate GL 1800. Honda did make the 1800 look like it was all one bike whereas the GL 1500 (had 1..) looked like 2 different bikes that mismated in the middle! Functionally the old 1500 is a very nice "Buick" while the 1800 is more of a GT; vast improvement dynamically.

If the Vision's engine has been enlarged with more cc, hp and torque the bike might be quite respectable. The 6th gear sure sounds good; as both my 1800s always felt like they needed a 6th gear. The reverse on the Wing is very handy to have on a bike of this size, but I did manage to handle my Road King altho the GL 1800 was far more convenient. Both the RK and 1800 have features that make them interesting bikes to own.

OTOH, I think my FJR "fits" my riding needs/style better than any of the 3 bigger bikes! DFO :)

Not for me, but I can see it hitting a soft spot with GW owners....'maybe' some would be HD owners as well but not the hard core ones.

Me? I look at it and think to myself, "How many FJR's would that buy me?"

I don't mind Victory or there bikes, but this new design??

I hope ALL bike companies stay away from this spaceman look. It is very cartoony/power rangerish....yuck, blah. :puke:

Naysayers! This is a cool bike! I don't necessarily looooove the front winged fairing, but the rest is very cool.

Agree with the above statement about air/oil cooled twin. This seems very out of place here and I would be concerned about the heat.

Way to step up and jump out of the box, Victory!! I assume this thing will be >20k, though, and that will keep many away.

I was at the unvailing at the NY IMS show. I'm probably on the video! The bikes are huge, somewhat obtrusive. Richard and kyle Petty where there to promote.

You'd think I'd have pixs of the darn bikes! My card took a dump after these pixs!

Do the Victory's turn right? Or just go straight and "turn Left"?

I know I will never own one, but I still like the Vegas.....silver with spoked wheels. Clean and simple!

At first glance I thought the front end had some styling cues similar to the BMW RT1200.
That's the first thing that poped into my head. A mutated RT.

but at least they're attempting a design direction of their own, and not following HOG country like everyone else in the cookie cutter cruiser building industry. Good for them and I hope they sell a bunch!!
I'll second that and would get one before I got an HD. We have a local Victory dealer and they are pretty nice folks

Reminds me of the jettsons, tho not in a bad way.....................that big honkin v-twin sitting in the middle just blows it for me.

Say what you will, these guys have guts. I can't wait to see one on the road, that's where it really matters. It's pretty art-deco in styling, and I like it because it's fresh. I'm really tired of all the FLH knock-offs, and this one will NOT be mistaken for a Milwaukee product. At least they're looking ahead, and not dredging up the past. And a big honkin V-Twin makes a great relaxed touring engine.

I recall a lot of hoopla about the Victory -KTM merger, and then saw a small blurb about that being short lived. What happened there?

Remember the thread on the Moto Guzzi Norge? Saw one in the flesh at Ned's a couple of weeks ago, and the thing is beautifully finished, and will be a great bike for those who buy them. I'll wave...

Finally a manufacturer sees the light and builds a V-Twin that doesn't look like a refugee from 1913. This bike begs for something other than black leather and assless chaps on the rider. Hurray for Polaris, er Victory!!!
