I'm not a big fan of New Year's resolutions, but ...

I'm going to finish my fifth revision (second working model) of my auxiliary tank.

I'm a week into my "M&M Diet". I'll let you know how that goes, but I need to lighten the load on the bike before the next riding season.

I haven't smoked since Thanksgiving. It's a ridiculous habit. I don't know why I like to smoke, but I need to knock it off.

For 2010 I'd like to find a new job making use of my degree. Relocating to a more temperate zone with some mountains would be nice.

Anyone else planning personal improvement?

Yup. I'm giving up refined sugar (for January anyway) - except for what's in dark chocolate and liquor.

And I'm going on a transplant list for a new brain :p

Good luck with the smoking cessation and the M&M diet. You know what they say about the green ones (M&Ms that is) ;)

Certianly do:

1. Get back to a excercise regiment...had to give it up 6mos due to shoulder surgery. Slap Tear; Only had to give up riding 4wks.

2. Spend more time with three son's. Camping/Fishing....

3. Complete SS1000 next week.

and as soon as I consult the wifey, I'm sure the list will grow.

I am resolved not to covet my neighbor's goats.
My wife has 6 pet goats not including myself. I could probably make you a deal on a loaner. They are Pygmy goats so if you are tall then bring your knee pads. :yahoo: :yahoo:

Stopped smoking 10 years ago...

2010 is the year to lose 40 lbs (10lbs per quarter) and keep it that way

One of the tools I'm using is to go and look at my gut in the mirror every time I feel hungry; the only way to really appreciate how ugly it is.

will post improvements for every 10lbs lost, posting it publicly on the forum should help to keep the pressure on, feel free to throw some dirt my way in case you see no further posts from me in the next three months. Wish me luck and perseverance. :assassin:

I DO ! I DO!

FWIW, getting / staying fit and at fighting weight is a PITA for (most) everyone. But WORTH it :D

Eat more meat, drink more beer, ride more twisties, and have more fun...if you know what I mean. ;)
Now theirs a man with his priorities straight. Except my priorities are in exactly the reverse order.
Bungie's a Great Guy, but I'm going with Wheatie's better version! My resolution is to quit working, completely retire and ride my bike every day: Oh wait, I'm already doing this one; Ha, ha! Just riding motos with Son Seth y mi Hijo *******o SkootyG!

Thanks mem for the cheering on, planning do kill 3 flies with one swat: Arthritis, Hypertenstion and DiabetesII plus I believe having more energy overall.

I resolve to be less of an ******* this year. With my abundance of assholitude, a small reduction should be a piece of cake.

However, being able to show a substantial reduction will be a lot of work, taking at least several months to show any measurable progress. Kind of like trying to dig a hole in a sand dune.

My "M&M diet" is based on a similar principle. Here's how my logic worked:

• I want a visual aid to show that I'm making progress toward my goal

• The excess body fat is going to metabolize too slowly to use a mirror as my visual aid.

• I figure that if I quit eating 3-4 hours before bed, my body will metabolize a little fat each day.

• I guess that volume of fat is a little greater than the volume of one M&M

• I bought a glass jar and a bag of M&Ms and I put one M&M in the jar for each night I stick to the plan.

I haven't changed any other eating habits.

Wish me luck and perseverance. :assassin:
Good luck!

You might want to think in terms of inches lost instead of pounds lost. Wrap a tape measure around the gut and record the girth.

Making New Year's resolutions was pretty easy this year. I just used last year's list.

Made progress, though. I'm tipping the scales 15 lbs. lighter this Jan. 1 than last Jan. 1. Another round of that, and I'm just about to my goal. It's good I'm not in a hurry.

my goal for 2010 is something I've said I was going to do many times over the years but just never did. Many of you will snicker at me but here goes:

My 2010 summer vacation is to be a cross-Canada ride.

My '03 is mint and only has 22000kms. I finally have a bike well-suited for droning across the prairies and carving-up the rockies for a couple of weeks. I have in-transit accomodations in Winnipeg and my rockies homebase is my nephews' place in Kelowna.

And my daughter is old enough to forgive me for taking my own vacation (I asked her if she wanted to come but riding pillion for 2-3 weeks got the reaction you'd expect from a 14 yr old).

No excuse this year.... and I hope to meet some of you forum members en route!
