I got taken out yesterday around 1600. As far as motorcycle wrecks go, it wasn't bad. I will admit, it hurts like hell though. Pain pills aren't really touching this crap.

Going around a mall loop at Collin Creek in Plano, two lanes each direction, stops signs at each mall entrance. Me and an SUV cleared the interesection of incomming traffic and proceeded to pull away from the stop sign. She was in the LH lane, a straight only lane mind you, I was in the RH lane, with the option of straight or turn right. I needed to go straight. We both pull away, will me slightly behind watching her. We get halfway across the area where she could turn and looked to be going straight, so I started to pull away. Bam, last minute, she managed to turn into me, and quickly.

I went straight ahead, bike took a 90 degree turn to the right. It went further away than I did. On the way off the bike, I hit her vehicle with my left hip, skipped across her hood and landed in the middle of the intersection. I jumped up getting instantly pissed because I couldn't believe that just happened and started wondering if it was going to impact my trip to SFO. I got about a third of the way to the bike when the adrenaline seemed to wear off and down I went.

Lovely day, bike is still at the scene, gotta figure out how to get it over to Stadium for check out. It doesn't look bad, lots of plastic messed up, but have no idea if the front wheel hit anything. I hurt like a mother_______.

Now, where do I get the crash club badge.

Nasty, glad to hear you are up and about after that. Hope you can make SFO , might see you there.

Oh yeah, forgot about that part, been checked out. Once I laid back down at the scene, I knew this was going to be a painful experience.

Got a ride in the box on wheels, and lots of xrays and people poking and prodding. I thought for sure something in the hip area had to be broken, but all xrays were negative and I managed to get kicked out of the ER in under three hours. I was pretty happy about that. I can hardly f-ing move today, but massive hip and chest bruise, and about a square inch of rash on my left wrist. Was wearing helmet and jacket. Like I said, as far as motorcycle wrecks go, this was very minor and I won't be complaining about it. Well, except for probably missing SFO. LOL

That just sucks Bryan but I'm glad you are mostly OK. Hope you and the bike get back on the road soon. Too bad you couldn't have kicked the s#$t out of her for being a totally "brain dead" driver.

Cool... when you said "down I went" and then didn't mention a visit to the doc I got worried. Glad to hear there's no bones broken or tendons ripped. Bruises like you describe have the advantage of turning really pretty colors while healing so you should get pics!

Sorry to hear about your crash..

While taking pictures, go get some from the scene. Might come in handy if there is more damage than first apparent.

Strange how people's memories change when all of a sudden the cage driver has to fork over large sums of money.

Thats a good idea Don. Here in a little while, I am going to meet the tow guy at the bike, so will be taking a bunch of pictures. Will get some of the intersection and landing spots too.

Biggest thing I am miffed about is missing out on the stories and fun at SFO.

Make sure you include your gear, not just your bike, in the claim with her insurance. if it goes like mine did, you may have to produce receipts, or they'll just shop the lowest price they can find on the interwebs for something "comparable," and most times they don't have a clue on comparable.

I bet she totally crapped her pants when you went Dukes of Hazzard across her hood!! That might have been worth seeing the look on her face.

Anyways, you know the rest cause we've been texting. Hang in there. Call for stronger meds!

Yeah, I put the gear in the side bags. It got towed to the shop this afternoon. Guess they will start looking at it middle of next week. I was moving around a little, but things are REALLY starting to stiffen up now. Sheeeeeit........

It's good to know that even in the immediate aftermath of the accident, a fellow Forumite has his priorities straight.

If you havent' already done so, take pictures and get all eye witness reports. Don't expect the police to do so and I speak from experience, when the Sargent or higher officer looks at their pictures he may decide something different then the officer at the scene and mail you a ticket. :(

Glad you're okay and it can be fixed.

I'm glad everything physical can heal relatively quickly. Hang in there, take care of yourself and know there are always more FJR owner meetings -- I'm glad you'l be in one piece to make one.

Tough luck dude. Glad your injuries are not serious, only painful. I believe there is always something a rider can take from an incident like this, something that can be added to ones situational awareness/defensive driving skill set, even when the other driver is at fault. Heal up and get back on the road soon.

Glad you're ok and will heal up. It's no sin to drive to SFO and hang out if you're not up to riding or the bike is too messed up. The other option might be just riding the bike if it's just ugly. I've ridden a crashed bike 850 miles home one trip, so it might not be pretty, but often they are still rideable.

Gunny to what Dusty said. I am not letting the SUV off the hook, but were you in her blind spot? And good riding pants have hip armor. Consider stepping up to that level of protection. It really can make a big difference.

You've got a couple of weeks of pretty skin colors. Hopefully the pain won't last that long.
