I want the one with the 'busa engine and in the drop-top cabriolet.

Otherwise, I'd get the standard one for my oldest daughter ......

I'm thinking some of the reflective vinyl like we use on the saddlebags is called for. Would love to see that sucker light up at night.

:)

Looks way safer than the Can-Am Spyder I test drove. What size chik fits inside for the "break-in run"? A dead midget is not going to cut it.

It sure would SMART if ya ever got in an accident with a normal size vehicle! Might as well be a motorcycle.
Check out the crash ratings for that thing-better than your suv! Entire unit is a cell that surrounds the occupant. Cruises down the highway at 70 with no issues. 1000cc three banger located in the rear. Seats are 6" higher than the engine so that the engine will not enter the passenger compartment in the event of a rear collision. Side collision hits wheels. You-tube has a 70 mile per hour hit on a conrete barrier where you can still open/close the passenger door. I'm taking it to the mountains of NH this weekend so I'll see if I have to install a sail.
Wanna go head to head with my Duramax 4X4? You guys need to save all that oil! I'm going to need it! j/k

Were you serious about the dead midget thing? ... cause I had an incident this last weekend...

I think they're awesome, and between that and a Toyota Yaris I'd have a hard time picking... I'd love to have a little car that you "put on" and zip about. It would come down to price, operating costs, insurance, and maintenance records... My first car was an MG Midget (not a dead one, though) and I loved it. So small and nimble.

Nice, Cota!

Great safety if you like living in a wheel chair for the rest of your life.Or on a 4 wheel roller board.

Test driver quote and photo "Boy, that test went well."

Now it's really the "right size car for me"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The real problem with this car is it has no real histroy.

It is NOT the European car. It is a special Smart Car (Bigger) for america. The engine has no real history. The fuel milage is not what it is rated for.

People are getting 35 to 38 best average.

The Honda Civic is 100 time better. It's much bigger and gets much better MPG. + it's a real car.

The Smart Car is a nich car. People will buy it. But as a realistic, usable car. I don't think so.

I don't think it would handle over 4 inches of snow if that much.

But those who buy it should have a lot of fun with it.
I know that none of your statements are true. (except maybe that this Smart is bigger for the US) This car was originally designed, engineered and developed in Switzerland at a technical college in Biel (at that time mostly funded by the Swatch CEO Nicolas Hayek. Today it is a product of Mercedes Benz and has been marketed and sold since 1999. These 1000cc motors are quite reliable and there is no major recall or problem history with this car. And the fuel mileage is what it's rated for...just like an FJR if you ride it hard your fuel mileage is poor and if you ride moderate and efficient you will attain the rated fuel efficiency.

Nice commuter car you have there Cota95! I see they did a Norman Rockwell quality portrait of you on the car too, a very nice touch. I'm not sure that I would have been up to taking that car up to your camp though.

What is that forlorn, neglected vehicle in the top, center of the background?

Now when Cota95 commutes with his BIG vehicle it means he is riding the FJR again.

..........and motorcyclists bitching about car safety is just real funny.
If safety is such an issue with you buy a huge truck and stop riding your bike. Let the guy have some fun.

Guessing you own a Honda Civic? What makes something a "real car"? Are you the car police?

KM

And I can prove it. (YourYou're the one asking me questions about "what makes a real car").")

See, I know and you don't. But that's ok. That's what the "Car Police"
iroc-cop.gif

are here for.

Son, A a real car is any car the owner likes. For Cota95 it is the "Smart Car"." For me it is another make. You see, son, it's just a matter of "Personal Preference".." Your'sYours may or may not be a Smart Car, but that is up to you. That, is what Personal Preference is all about.

For all I know you don't own a car. Your personal preference may be motorcycles only.

If you need to know anything else about real cars, real motorcycles, real life, etc.., just let the "Car Police" Knowknow.

That's what we're here for,: to help our fellow officers.

Tres cool car & paint job. Of course, if you really want attention you'll have to get an Aptera to complement it!

I like 'em but was kinda disappointed in the mpg given the size/price. Too bad they dont have the diesel version EMEA gets.

Like the decal scheme!

Damn! I had an Isetta in High School in 1960. Had way too much fun in mine. Top speed was about 55.
