For several weeks anyhow!! I'm going in tomorrow morning to have Carpal Tunnel Surgery on my right wrist. Then in 2 weeks I go back in to have the other done. The doc says I'm going to have to take a break from the motorcycle for awhile.

I do look forward to a full nights sleep without my hands going numb! That and having the strength back in my hands which right now is around 30-40%. Fortunately I can still lift FJR's off of people along side the road? (Right Scab?)

As you notice I waited to have this done during the winter months!! I'm probably going to need a support group within the next few weeks!!

Good luck with the surgeries! We'll be looking forward to your "hunt and peck" participation on the board during your recovery.

Dude, dude, dude! What a bummer! But forget about your upcoming riding hiatus, are you ambidextrious? How will you ever masturbate?

jk, I hope your recovery is swift. Worry not. If they can put hand-controls on a car, we can put foot-controls on a bike. Piss on brakes, who needs 'em? We just need to get you an AE with a gas pedal.

Didn't your Mom tell you not to play with it so much?
Yeah, my habits have migrated problems all the way to my elbow! Carpel Tunnel Elbow???

Good luck with the surgery! Have them go ahead and install a throttle cam in your right wrist so that you can compensate for the quick throttle on the '08.

I was thinking maybe some gel inserts in my palms so I can get rid of the grip puppies?

That would undoubtedly make "farkle of the year"

Good luck and heal fast

Hope your not getting the 'Cut Rate' Butcher that did both of mine. :butcher: To your success! TJ :good:

Wow ain't that ironic, I'm going in the 25th of this month for the same deal on my left hand  Had the right side done in 88' no problems. :D The left side has progressed into the shoulder area. Supposedly the Carpal Release will stop the pain there also.

The same doc that fixed the right side is doing the left so I'm hoping for the same results. ;)

Do you have the option of staying alert and awake during the procedure? I did the first time (and got to watch via the monitor) have elected the same this time. It's rather enjoyable badgering the doc while he's workin'

Best wishes to ya jwilly.

You always seem to find a way don't cha? Is that why the name Scab  :D

What are you inserting in your palm? And why are you gripping puppies?

Heal quickly Jason

Well if we're talking about surgery, I've just booked Feb 19th for total left knee replacement, has anyone else out there had it done and if so how long before you were riding................what a bummer!

Jason,
Hope all goes smooth and you have a quick recovery. We'll have to plan a "jwilly rides again" meet...

Now this actually sounds like an appropriate response to this temporary jwilly time-out. Kinda makes me a little ashamed of my earlier response. Nah.

jwilly,

Good luck with your surgery. My fiance, Arlene, just had the same procedure, the right hand in Nov and the left hand in Dec. While they were in there they also fixed several fingers that had "trigger finger".

She has pretty severe arthritis in both hands as well. The combination caused her pain at night in both arms and hands. She got some relief by wearing splints on her wrists and hands at night.

The surgery was a piece of cake, about a half hour for each hand. Practically no post surgery pain and just a little soreness as things healed up. She still has some hand pain with overuse and cold which is probably due to the arthritis, and will have to rebuild hand strength. Overall, much improvement.

The physical therapist will give you some gel pads to attach to the hands to prevent injury while things heal.

A tip for anyone with carpel tunnel syndrome...get it fixed sooner rather than later. The surgeon said the nerves are compressed and slowly die. Regeneration is much less likely the longer you wait.

I think you'll be ready to ride in 2 or 3 months.

Sorry Scab, it slipped, temporary lapse which allowed an inappropriate sympathic remark squeak through, how's this;

jwilly, to deal with you're upcoming inability to perform certain "me time" activities, we can only hope you are able to persuade, by any means possible, performance of "me time" activity by that special someone in your life. If you're really good, you'll be able to milk the crap out this with the "pitty-poor-me, I'm helpless" approach for much personal servitude by your significant other...
