Wow, there is just NO room for things up in that fairing, is there? For temporary set up, I stuffed one of the two new power blocks into the "glove compartment" up in the front/left fairing. Tonight, I pulled all four panels off in an attempt to find a place to permanently mount in and still have it reasonably accessible for fuse changes and power wire hookups.

Youch - damn little room up there. I left it be whilst I think on it some more. I suppose it's no problem just to run two power trunks back to the one under the seat; one for the GPS, one for the Chatterbox. But I figured if I've got the power block up front, why not, right? Sheesh.

Ok, rant over. I've got some ideas in mind, but I'd like to hear others' ideas on a PDB up front on the '06 (I understand the earlier years had more room in the fairing).

I was a little miffed myself when hooking up the Starcom, and the V1.

I'm going to add a powerblock/fuse block soon, and will be up against the same thing.

There's room in them there fairings, but you just can't get to it easily. might be time to cut a hole, or make a door...

Interested in what you figure out if anything.

You must be talking about an '06. Can't tell for sure because you haven't filled out your profile. If so, I agree. The amount of space is a far stretch from what's in the '05 and earlier. You want all that airflow management....youse got to pay for it.

I wound up sticking my power block (a six postion block) to the outside rear of the glove box with velcro. I had to double a connection (all fused) on a post or two, butt its all I needed. I manage to reach the posts with a offset screw driver when needed.

The inside of the box space was already used for a PHID ballast, the V1 remote audio control and dual warm and safe controllers. :)

You think the 06 is tight, take a look at the new Kaw CT14's dash. Tiny compared to the Feej, no doubt it'll be worse for spare room.

No, there is not. It is an unfortunate consequence of the re-design.

If you want to install items in the nose area, you have to get really creative as I did in this thread

Oh, I dunno, Rad.... let's take another look at that dash area:

My thoughts are: what is behind the two rather large black dash panels the reside immediately outboard the instrument cluster? That might (or might not) offer some farkle placement opportunities....

Also, check out those two large flat panels underneath (and slightly inboard) of the handlebars... might be a lot of room under there, or it might only offer a little room...

Until the bike arrives and can be inspected, guess won't really know for sure....
