Actually, you have is one of only two test prototypes that escaped destruction. They were tested, in Japan, Yamaha having hired Valentino Rossi as their professional rider. These prototypes were used to test extremely high speed stability and aerodynamics issues. It was found that the roundels would detach when if the bike was hit with a 15 MPH crosswind when the speed was in excess of 230 MPH. Later, Yamaha capitulated to DOT threats and slowed the bike down.

You see, I always knew my bike was special.

I'd be excited if Valentino Rossi pissed in the gas tank.

You know his race bike slows down when the have to put actual gas in the tank.

You really wanna screw with someone, put KLR (Spoofed BMW) roundels on it.

I am relatively new here (single digit post count should be a clue), but "KLR"?

This thread has degenerated into putting logos on the FJR's gas tank from other motorcycle manufactures to goof on the witless unwitting public. I have had a number of people come over to me in a parking lot and ask what kind of a BMW is that, they like my bike but have never seen this model 'BMW' before. Then I get to tell them it is actually a Yamaha and point to the Yamaha roundel on my gas tank.

The roundel in this picture is a double spoof, it is a BMW background with an entirely different motorcycle's initials, if this roundel was put on our FJR is should confuse the heck out of most people.

I have "YAMAHA" written along the bottom of my fairings in silver, on both sides if the bike. People still ask if it's a BMW. My answer us always, "yes!" People are NOT hard to trick.

I removed every sign of Yamaha on my previous bike. When people asked me what make it was I told them it is an experimental model by a manufacturer who is road testing the bike to see how much public interest it gets. They almost all assumed it was a European manufacturer.

I might trying this new "lying" thing. It sounds interesting.

When people ask me what "FJR" stands for, I tell them "Fast Japanese Rocket."

When they ask, "How fast does it go?" I tell them I've never had mine over 220 miles per hour. Which is technically true. It's also true that I've never had mine over 155, either, but let's not split hairs.
