*SNORT* TV?? Weathermen on TV???? Sorry, but if you lived in Tahoe long enough, you got used to just laughing at what they had to say. (Pete Giddings, anyone?)

Seriously, Richard, it is raining and blowing HARD today in Auburn (1200' elevation just north and east of Sacramento). Supposed to get worse later and through the night. Wednesday through Sacramento should get you wet, but the intensity of the rain and wind will be slackening. So, today would be a really BAD day to ride north, Wednesday might be doable with rain slackening to showers, but watch for gusts. Gets better after that, and it looks like your target area will be decent for the weekend, possible showers here and there.

Don't think I'd be riding up Hwy 1 while this storm is raging -- wind too nasty. Heck, I did it a couple weeks ago on a clear but windy day, and at exposed corner apexes, the wind blast would significantly unsettle the bike if I wasn't doing the outside peg/countersteer technique to hold against it. Blowing much harder this weekend, and they did mention very high gust velocities on the coast and over Sierra ridges on TV this morning.

I know you'll be bringing rain gear and something to warm from the inside upon getting out of it.

Rain and strong wind (30+ gusts) in the foothills around my place in La Grange as well. Had business in the East bay area today so I "drove" the back way to Walnut Creek via Camino Diablo Road, LOTS of rocks that had tumbled down the hill sides and quite a bit of standing water on the roads. Hopefully the weather guessers are right about this former Typhoon blowing through quickly.

we are leaving at 5am and heading straight up 101, we are spending tomorrow night in Mill Valley. Thursday we are heading up to and spending the night in Red Bluff, see ya'll there on Friday morning.

If it hasn't washed away. Watch the weather forecast and road conditions. We've gotten multiple inches of rain and high winds starting this morning about 3am and just let up about 4:30 - 5:00pm here in the Bay Area. I think we're suppose to get more tonight into the morning.

You might check out CaTran's road conditions site to see if anything happens on your ride's highways. At the moment, lotsa construction and some high winds forecasts for today.

This was a one-day event. Scattered showers tomorrow followed by clearing and sun. But today was nasty enough that I took BART in, and you know it's gotta be nasty to drive me onto BART. First rain of the season, greasy roads, driving rain, flooding, high winds, stupid drivers, etc....

Should be fine for ride up Friday, Fairlaner.

Han's the ride up is tomorrow.........
Mill Valley tomorrow night.

...multiple inches of rain...high winds...cloudy with a chance of meatballs... Those conditions won't slow down our Fairlaner one little bit, he's British for God's sake. That's just a ride from Norwich to Bournemouth, don't you know? Nothing unusual!

Scattered showers is the forecast for today, Richard. You guys should be fine on 101 as there are plenty of places to "hide" if need be. It'll be sunny on Thursday. Possible rain Friday night in Yreka.

4.45am and Roy and I will be leaving in a few minutes.....

Right now it is raining but should be gone from the whole state by lunch time according the weather dude down here.

see ya'll soon.
