Thank you all for reading my RR.

Gary - do take some time this week and venture out. Please bring the camera - cheers!

RH - the ST1300 problems were simply luck of the draw and Ole Man Murphey showing his sense of humor. Next time it willmy problems.

HP Tuner - We do eat well on bike trips. I'm starting to get this cooking thing down pat. Cooking our evening meal at the camp site allows me to get off the roads before dark, and I can have a few Totties before we eat. Once more, there's a ton of things you can cook on an open fire.

So on bike trips, if we are going to eat a restauant meal, it's always the noon meal.

Thanks for the RR, that was a good one! Looks like y'all had a great time! :D

The ST requires removal of RH can to remove wheel?

Looks like you guys did the camping/touring thing right! I love the runs to town to get "supplies" and coming back with a top case full of iced down beverages.

Yes Dammit!

It does not have to come all the way off but it may as well. The axle will almost, but not quite clear the right muffler. It is either knock a dent in the can or drop it and let it fall. I curse Honda every time I have to do this for a new back tire. I say all the time, "There is no perfect motorcycle." That and the odd tire sizes the ST requires frustrate the hell out of me.

Funny you mention that. Since I was going to the bike shop, Mike told me to see if they had a new tire and if it was a better choice, to buy it instead of patching his tire. Well, in this odd-ball size, they had 1 tire in stock. It was a Battleax BT021 and the date code on the sidewall was the 5th week of 2002! Uh... that's ok - just patch this one.

drink: totties
Guess I was using the term a bit generically. Quite frankly, I've been enjoying my adult beverages "neat" lately. ;)

SickChilly - do you do much camping in the Seattle area? My brother lives in Bainbridge Island. To be honest, it's hard to imagine that it ever stops raining long enough to even try camping. Shoot - follow the birds down south this winter and let me show you around. I'll even buy the ice!!

In a pinch you can run the same rear tire on the ST1300 you run on the rear of the FJR. The ST calls for a 170/60, but the 180/55 will go right on. The front is a real oddball though, it is a 120/70R18. Hard to find an 18 inch front tire just laying around a bike shop. When the ST guys go Darkside, they run the exact same size car tire as the FJRs.

Really enjoyed reading your RR, thanks for taking the time to post it all up. I get down to the hill country most every year on the FJR or the road bicycle and have been just about everywhere you guys rode and hiked. Love the area, there is so much great outdoor recreation.

Great pics, all that stuff is right in my backyard! Give me a holler the next time you're in the area, and I'll show you a few things you missed, like the Willow City Loop, and Cooper's, in Llano.
