Well, I picked up my new to me FJR and am loving it...now what do I do with the other bike sitting in the garage? I try to be fair and slot it some riding time and everytime I do..I wish I was on the FJR. Maybe after the new wears off I can devote some more time to riding the cruiser. Can't sell it after 30+ yrs of riding the darn things I swore that there would always be one in the garage.

I do have to say that being my first UJM I am extremely impressed with the quality of build on this bike. There are a few niggles but there are with any marquis. After giving up on the blue and white rondell, I thought that I was forever destined to be without a sport-touring bike. Hah......! Not anymore. Thanks to all who have posted such positive posts on this site and look forward to meeting you guys.

Ride safe,

Rexford

As time change so do our priorities.

If you don't find yourself spending enough time riding your other motorcycles you might consider selling them and buy that new Lambo you always wanted.

This is not a UJM...that is so 1970s. :D The V-twin is the UAC...universal american cruiser....yawn.

Put those liquid-cooled, fuel injected, 4valves/cylinder, pistons to work on a rigid sport touring frame that is far removed from the big UJMs of yesteryear....and you've gotcherself some fun! :yahoo:

What "blue and white rondell" model do you have?

Makes a huge difference in my book,I'm not a FJR bigot like most on this site..

I just like to ride..

Okay....to reply to some of your posts,

Skoot: Paper Weight?, no I love all motorcycles! And they all have a purpose and can be enjoyed as such.

Yamafit: Would love to have another true duel-sport bike. I just sold a KTM 690E R. I have had three back surgeries and riding dirt really puts me at risk and the heal time is really taking awhile now.

wfooshee: Cruisers suck? Yes they do.....they suck in air, mix it with gas and provide momentum. Life is not harsh if you enjoy everything about it.....take a flintstones vitiman and relax a little!

Escape: My sentiments exactly sir!

dcarver: My experience with BMW's started in 98 with a RT then I went to GSA's and during that time I also got involved with the K bikes ie: K1200RS and several K1200S bikes and also a K1200GT (newer generation). Had bearings go on one of the GSA's and had a good friend I ride with lose his final drive on a road trip we were on and man, was he screwed out on the road.

You guys have a great day.

I went through the same kind of thing. I kept my cruiser when I got my FJR. But like you, I found I just kept taking the FJR out and the other bike just sat there all sad by itself in the garage..

I finally realized that I was not being fair to the bike. It needed someone to give it the attention it deserved. I sold it to a very grateful and happy man that really seemed to love the bike as much as I loved my new FJR

That's my story. You have to decide how yours goes.

It is nice to have an unfared bike around when the temps get up near 100F down south where you live. Even with a cut-down shorty / sporty windshield, having a 1.3 liter water-cooled power plant between your knees is gonna be some hot and uncomfy in those kind of conditions. Keep it for those days. As long as you have the space and financial wherewithal to keep it, that's exactly what I'd recommend.

BTW - I wouldn't worry about hurting the cruiser bike's feelings by ignoring it. It's a friggen machine fer chrissakes! ;)
