As some of y'all know I enjoy writing about motorcycle adventures. And I flatter myself that some of you enjoy reading my posts.

I've published a couple of articles for editor Amy Holland in Friction Zone magazine (analyzing California motorcycle accident statistics), so I have some history with her and her excellent magazine.

So anyway, I have the idea of communicating with her about signing up to write an article about WFO this year. But before I did that I wanted to touch base with Forum members about their thoughts on the subject. I don't want to be presumptuous regarding representing the voice of the Forum or anything like that; and maybe somebody's already got the role of "Official Cub Reporter for WFO."

I think at best she would not commit but just say that yeah, she'd have a look at anything I wrote.

Thoughts?

Jb

"Burleigh, is this just a clever way to make your trip expenses tax deductible?" :innocent:

If you bring that video camera of yours to all venues, you might want to grease it up liberally, if ya know what I mean.

I can't imagine how much ink Amy would give it, but let me stew on it for a bit. Oh, and since Amy is an FJR owner and you apparently know her better than I do, why don't you extend an invite to her?

If you get published in a real work of Journalistic Merit (read: actually get paid for it) I'll let ya get to second base.

Editor in Chief Perry White says: Great Caesars Ghost, Yes! Superman agrees. Rad gushes as JB tries to cop a feel.... :good:

Leave it up to the WFO staff (mainly TWN) to decide if its OK.
Exactly. What any owner's thoughts are is not germaine. (I know, "Keep the Germans our of it.") I believe the decision should be up to the "Great High Potentate" & "Grand Poobah" of the event, Mr. TWN, aaaannnndddd the organizing comittee: Warchild, Hmarc, et al.

Unless someone else is already angling Amy, I say sribe away! The more (good) ink the better for us, the platform and the forum!

Go for it JB. But I think you may wanna do it from the 'Ride' section angle. Also, finagle a shout out for 'NFO' 2008 - we'll update you with info later. Oh and while you're at it... Ask Amy if she can toss in some swag in the form of free subscriptions (have her contact O'vale for details). (Yeah, I know it's free off the shelf, but you have to pay for home delivery and some of us are, well, lazy bastages.)

I think you'll have to do the SS1K or BBG and cover that! :p

Great! Thanks, all.

By free subscriptions, what did you have in mind--like maybe raffle prizes? I can have her contact O'Vale, but I should give her a hint--same with NFO: what's it stand for, and roughly when is it?

NFO: National FJR Owners meet.

Next year around the same time as this WFO. Most likely (they've been working towards) the Denver area, as it will be the most central for everyone and provide some great roads.

Hopefully (maybe, perhaps, if, supposedly) Yamaha will be there with their Big Blue Trailer and test-ride fleet. It's going to be a good one!
