So a couple years ago, I decided it was time to buy a dirt bike. PJ's Triumph was having a heck of a deal on 2013 Husqvarna 449s. With a $2500 rebate, I could pick up a new one for like $5200. The decision was made and my wife and I were at breakfast. I was going to leave there and go sign papers for the bike. In the middle of breakfast, our friends call to see if we want to go on a Father's Day lake trip. The decision was made to get a jet ski and I'd buy the bike later.

I gotta say, I love our jet ski. However, I got into a fight with my boss that cost me a load of money. In the end, I won, but it sure didn't feel like it. All my extra dirt bike money was gone, but whatever.

Some know that my brother rode a KTM530 EXC. The thing has balls for days and is super fun. He got it through me for a smoking deal from a friend if ours. Earlier this year, he asked me if I wanted it because he was getting a fuel injected 2015 500. I really wanted it but had to pass, so he sold it to his friend.

A month ago, he called me again and asked me if I still wanted the bike. His buddy put a couple hours on it but needed to sell it. I looked into it and asked my wife. I didn't push because we're finally mostly back on our feet, so I passed again. Last week, Patch asked if I wanted to go for a ride this Saturday. A friend of his in Albuquerque wanted to go for a ride and had a second KTM I could ride. We made plans to go and Patch got into Albuquerque yesterday.

Because his girlfriend is going to PA school, she lives in a small apartment near UNM. Patch had his trailer and asked me to park it in my yard so his trailer and his bike inside wouldn't disappear.

Today was my middle daughter's birthday. We all went to dinner, and Patch and his GF came with us to our house. Patch told me he needed to move the trailer so he could get in through the back to get some of H's stuff. We got it moved and he dropped the back revealing two KTMs. I figured he picked up his buddy's bike until he told me to move the bike. I am sometimes dense and told him we could just lift whatever he needed out. Patch had to make it clear that the bike on the left, the 530EXC, had a bow on it and was in fact mine. My wife and him had gotten together and got me the bike. BADASS!!

Me being dumb...No surprise there. Note the bow:

A couple shots of the bike. I took it for a ride but forgot to get pictures. Haha...I was pretty stoked. We put it back in the trailer because I work tomorrow and we're riding on Saturday. Apparently without his magical friend. Haha...

That's awesome! You have a wonderful wife!

However, come back to us and let us know what she'll get in return. Because you know....she's gettin' something in return. ;)

Nice, and at least that's the right kind of Orange, not that "Made in the USA" crappy orange. You'll love it.

I know your brother is a Great Guy. I can easily picture him conspiring with your wife on something like this. It does not surprise me that your wife would be a fantastic person also. Sometimes, we actually get what we deserve.

Enjoy the orange beast. I hear they are lots of fun and the only thing they love more than dirt is money.

Oh, and don't crash the damned thing.

Everything with me has a story:

Last year when Patch and I took off for EOM, my girls were in the middle of fall softball season. Two of them had games at the same time, so my wife got them to the field and took off her wedding ring to put sunscreen on them. She put her ring on her purse on the front seat of her Expedition and forgot about it. She walked away, most likely dropping the ring in the parking lot. Someone found it and kept it. I searched that car, cop style, and didn't find it. I'm still thinking of removing the seat just in case...However...

I wasn't happy, but I wasn't mad, **** happens, and the ring was insured for more than I paid for it. It wasn't expensive because we were poor when I bought it, but we got a little insurance money. C knew I was bugged, so she put it in one of my old accounts and we just let it sit.

Our 17 year anniversary was in July, and I decided it was time to replace her ring. She had been wearing a small cheesy ring I had gotten her for her birthday or anniversary, years ago. I went to see a jeweler we knew and they hooked her up. However, that good deal still cost a shitload of money. She loves her new ring, but a couple of times, I pointed out she is wearing my new dirt bike. Haha...I'm an ******* right?

That was part of the reason I shot Patch down last time he asked me about the bike. I had just spent a bunch of money on C. She's a great wife. I can't believe she puts up with me. I've never gotten a bike as a gifted before. I'm so excited, I can't stand it. Haha...So, she got a ring, and I got a bike. Yay us!

Congrats A.J. What an awesome surprise. Just don't take the Beemerdon school of dirt riding!!

AJ

Thanks for sharing a really cool story. I'm guessing that the first picture was the AHA moment? Since you didn't have a clue at first, I'm guessing that you didn't pick up on the fact that somebody was taking a picture of all this at that moment? Ha... they got you good, buddy.

So what year is this rascal? What do you know about the difference between your KTM and the Husq you were drooling over a couple years back?

Was doing a little research here CLICKY

and found this statement:

"...the 530 EXC is quite possibly the wheelie king of all dirt bikes.

If you want an honest, hardcore dirt bike with lights the KTM 530 EXC is the answer. The 530 EXC is what it is – a serious dirt bike with turn signals..."

Looks like you got yourself a beast indeed. Remember, though you will no doubt be keeping the front wheel above the back one, be sure to keep it IN FRONT of the back one.

Ride safe my friend.

So when is somebody going to buy me a new dirt bike. I'm prettier than 'Zilla. Hell, everybody is prettier than 'Zilla.
Really yamafitter, really!?!? Twas a raging river behind this Hoser, one look at yamafitter: It froze, eh!

As much as it pains me to agree with a Canuck, Billy Fitz may be right! JSNS, nothing uglier than AJ!
