how hard is it to install something like this?

since I can't go without the bike long enough to send off front end parts to Racetech, I don't have a lotta options.

As JamesK mentioned, this is the same 25mm cartridge kit that HaulinAshe has in his '06 model FJR. (As do I)

Ohlins USA offers the FJR kit thru an exclusive agreement with Cogent Dynamics Inc. [ motocd.com ] You'll need to contact Rick at Cogent for installation. This is not a self-install product.

Let me clarify that while the original/prototype cartridge kits that Gary and I have installed in our bikes, were NOT self-install kits. A large part of the testing with Cogent Dynamics has been centered around making the kit available as a self-install option. I believe we have reached that point for Gen-II FJRs, and we'll be finalizing the self-install test in a few days.

I don't feel it's an install for someone who has never performed fork service on the FJR. But for someone who has some moderate FJR fork service experience, or access to a local shop with fork service experience, you could avoid the hassle of shipping forks.

More to come along with the Group Buy information...

Interesting.

How do they compare to the Traxxion AK-20? And price?
There's simply no way to achieve the same results with a 20mm cartridge. The 25mm cartridge/piston moves so much more fluid volume. Basic laws of fluid dynamics/physics gives the 25mm a definite advantage.

Current price (installed in forks shipped to Cogent) is $1,100 (springs and all). The Group Buy will be something below that.
