Forget the Yamahalube. Use....
If folks were curious at what point this thread got moved to NEPRT....it was very likely around this point. ;)
Well my original question was not Never-Ending Pointless, to me.
That's why I posted what I did...to to specifically acknowledge that the OP and some early posts weren't NEPRT. ;) Oil threads <sigh> rarely stay that way though.
True... It's tough being an admin these days...Pretty tough to have an oil thread not go south. No worries OP, it's OK our forum friend. ;)

It's Friday in some parts. ;)

https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?s...t=0&start=0 Shinden, one of our greatest authorities on the proper oil for our FJR's is a nice gentleman from Roseburg, Oregon named ShinyPartsUp. We of FJR Forum always defer to his wisdom regarding proper oils for our fine Yamaha motorcycles. I recommend sending a PM to SPU!

Since Repsol no longer is associated with Hayden, my local shop doesn't carry it anymore. Had to switch to Golden Spectro. Bike's still running

I see what you mean.

Oil threads do seem to turn into a "unination match". don't they ;)

IMHO, I use what I use; everyone else it free to use what they use.

I had a bit of good news, for me anyway.

I just did my first oil change - not for the bike, but it had the 600 mile service at the dealer, now has ~4K miles. So, I read up what you guys had to say and switched to Rotella synthetic. It was $20/gallon at Wally World and when in line (I go in/out through automotive; much quicker) I noticed an end display for 2.5 gallons Rotella regular oil in 2.5 gallons for $23.50, but I didn't get out and purchase that.

Anyway, I did buy a filter at the Yamaha shop, but I went back and read the Gen II binofacts and noticed the Pure One PL14612; I thought that number looked kinda familiar, went out to the garage, and yes, it also fits my wife's car - 2008 Smart (which has a Mitsubishi motor iirc).

So, guess I need to start looking for deals on PL's...
