First thoughts...preliminary planning...might not work out, I dunno...

I'm hoping to make a trip to see Chris da The_Axeman and Jordan.

Being retired and on fixed income with a family of four, affordability is key, and being creative is the rule of the day.

Time is not the pimary problem, cost is.

Anybody want to volunteer a sofa to crash on going and/or coming which means I need help on a route from New Orleans to New York.

For the first day of travel and because I have a friend living in Knoxville, it seems obvious that will be my first and last leg.

The rest is up for grabs.

I don't have any idea when...that's pretty much up to Mother Nature and Chris.

I also had a thought to incorporate NAFO in this effort; maybe I'll ride northeast with folks on your way home, for instance

I hope you get to go Patriot...to be able to pay your respects to such a fine young man and hero such as Jordan...

No worries once your up here Mike! Why don't you come up right before NAFO and I'll ride back down there with you. Come on either 9/12 for the Great Sag Harbor Rubber Duck Race that I am hosting or on 9/18 for the LCPL Jordan Haerter Memorial Fishing Tournament.

I'm going to NAFO. If you want to ride with me back home to Chesapeake Va. (a little over 500 miles) I can offer you a bed, some decent grub and a garage for your bike. From here you can slab it up 95, take 17, or even do 13 up the coast.

I'm not exactly on the most direct route for you to get to Sag Harbor, but I can provide you with an actual bed to sleep in if you come this way.

Thanx everyone who responded today.

well, thanx Chris:

OK, first thought...hummmm, that could work

I have to head to Killeen TX and Fort Hood to attend the National Gathering of the Guard PGR event as leadership on Sept 8-12

So I have to look...if I make Knoxville, then some other stop on my way to NY along I-81

Now I also have a friend in Lancaster, PA as another option

So if I can work it out with my contacts in Knoxville and Lancaster, that may get me there, and arriving Friday Sept 17th would work it would seem.

Anybody offering a crashpad along I-81 ???
