Have the 45-46 on, 9k on them leaving, on a trip june 10th. will be putting the on new replacements for them in Washington at FJR goodies will have about 11k when I take off.
weekend rider :) :D
Torquing the steering head adjuster and dropping to 35.5lbs just about eliminated the shake on mine. You can still see it but it doesn't get violent or increase in intensity. Just a very slight wobble.

So far so good. Did about 400 miles this weekend and no complaints. Mine ride fine solo and 2 up.
Whoever said that the Avons lean you into a turn easier is 100% correct. I don't feel like I have to muscle the bike in the tight stuff. It just kinda goes over when you lean. It will take me a little adjusting, I find myself having to correct my lines a lot because of how much easier the bike leans.

I have to ride them more to see if I like this easy turn entry or not. It's just too early for me to tell, because I'm still adjusting. Never though tires would make that much of a difference in regard to entry.
Well I am going to try a set of avons, I just had a set of pilot roads put on last week and the bike handles like a truck now :angry2: even compared to the metzler Z6. I leaned into the first corner like normal expecting the bike to come over with me and the damn thing stayed straight up, almost went over the center line before I horsed it around. I will chalk the pilot roads up to a $300 lesson learned. they may be fine for the touring part of the FJR, but totally suck for the sport part,,,,,,,,,,Lee

Feel free to ship those Pilot Roads my way. I personally like the Pilot Roads, and could always use another set of tires!

I have a set of Storms ready to mount. I read the forums with some of the Storms having problems. But I think any mass produced product has its share of quality control problems. If I was Avon any tires showing handling problems I would have replaced "know questions asked". I have also read that the Storms were the best tire some of the forum members have owned! I look foward to trying them out.

I now have about 4K on my Storms. They stick like glue, ride great in the rain, and seem to be wearing fairly well.

Yesterday, I was out on an open road, so I turned on the cc. I was going about 48 indicated. I took my hands off the bars to see if I got a shake. Yep, sure enough, the bars started oscillating. I just left my hands off to see what would happen. Nothing, the bars just continued a little back and forth wobble. Very docile and a non issue. I don't think I'd disregard these tires because of it.

I have about 2.2K on my Storms. They stick like glue, slide in the rain just like all tires do, and seem to be almost at the wear bars.

Around 1000 of those miles were at ESTN07 blasting over some nasty roads at a fairly good clip. A day trip of 400 miles preceeding ESTN07 I averaged 66mph which included running the Cherohala Skyway both ways. The OEM BT020 I took off was at 3.3K and still has some rubber above the wear bars although these were the break in tires and didn't see the abuse the Storms did. I agree that the oscillation is pretty much of a non-issue to all those who are aware of it, but unlike Warchild's post, I don't see them as the undisputed champion.
