Alright Billy. Isn't it fun being on the road?!!
Me too!
The sun was up before me Sunday morning. I try never to let that happen, but we all slip sometimes.
I'd stayed here for the night...
...and I give it a thumbs up. Clean, well-maintained, quiet, and crawling with hookers.
I stuffed my face with "continental" fare, absorbed the Sunday issue of The News-Review, and jumped on my blue motorcycle for another day of riding some roads I'd never ridden. Mostly.
First, it was up good old 5 for a few miles before I was able to head northwest on 138,
and up to Elkton. (Yes there were elk.) Then it was 38 to Reedsport and 101, where I
finally turned back south and down the beautiful Oregon coast.
This is the Umpqua, as I was leaving Roseburg. I'm gonna send this photo in
to the DamTour guys, and see if they'll give me half a point for it.
I'd stopped here, just after getting underway, because I needed some liners! It was chilly.
The overcast is not really bad weather, but rather the old marine layer which creeps in overnight,
all along the Pacific coast, and normally burns off before noon. No chance of rain. I think.
Here, I read all about the Umpqua Watershed, the local fishes, including this one (I could,....
but I won't),...
...and I spent a few minutes admiring this bridge.
Back on the road! Rested. Warm. Eager.
If I had a nickel for every one of these -
I passed...always with a friendly wave.
Gotta say, it's fun.
Lots of these things here and there, but didn't hit any.
Left turn.
Elkton, I think.
And on along the river.
The air here is awfully fresh and cool. Makes you wanna just sit and breathe.
Downtown Reedsport, Memorial Day Weekend.
It's better in small communities I think.
And on down the funky southern Oregon coast. Lots of interesting people and places.
Just a few captions, and a bunch of images. Should anyone recognize these places,
please add a comment or recollection, or insult.
Tempting. I really do have this cuticle that's been bothering....
Izzat a fast moving BMW??
Yes. It WAS! hahahahaha
I passed this place and flipped a U to go back and have a look.
James is not in the best of health. We talked for 20 minutes, and he let me look
around and take pictures.
He's been painting for 60 years. A very gentle man. And he thanked me for visiting.
I shoulda bought something.
