I am preparing to do the PAIR removal, change spark plugs and perhaps a throttle body sync.

The process for removing the hoses up by the spark plugs has been well documented, and I understand the process and reasoning behind it.

One thing that is confusing me is that I see a hose on my bike that I have not seen in any pics or read of being described on this forum. As you can see, it does not go to the nipple on the left side of the air box, as that has already been plugged by the PO. This hose snakes it's way down and to the left (sitting on the bike). I have given it a good tug, but it appears to be connected to something.

I am the second owner, and believe that this is a California bike. Would this make a difference?

Thanks,

Leo

I have an 06, non-Calibike and I have (or had) that same hose too. As previous poster said, pull it off, and plug the end there. It goes into the airbox if I recall, but it's been oh, 6 or 7 years since I pulled mine off.

If it's off any help, I've a few pictures under the tank of my (ex) '06 here, also of my (ex) '10 here, both lots taken as received from Mr. Yamaha.

The end of that hose normally goes here:

What it is hooked up to now is anyone's guess. Maybe the crankcase vent line?

In any case, you should be able to pull all those hoses off and just plug all the open nipples.

You are correct Fred. The hose coming up from below is the crank case vent hose. Not sure why the po hooked it up the way he did, but I disconnected it from the pre bent hose and attached it to the air box where it belongs.

Now I need to get the block off plates from Dave and clean up that area a bit.
