Geeeze. If I were the least bit superstitious, I'd be parking my bike and quit riding for a while. Our guys are dropping like no tomorrow....with some, unfortunately, paying the ultimate price. If I ever needed some reinforcement as to why I go to all the trouble to suit up with all the armor, these pictures are it.

Wowie! There's a lot of damage spread around in those picks. It's just fantastic you escaped most of it. No matter what your gear cost you, it just saved you thousands and mucho, mucho pain. Sorry about the FJR; I'm sure that hurts the most.

So, what happened right before sliding on the shoulder?

Wow!

Falling down:Bad!

Walking away:Good!

Bruised ego: Really good, if you learn from it.

All this news: Very depressing.

I'm glad to hear you are alright.

Ladies and gentlemen, puh-leeze be careful out there. Practice, be aware of your limitations and mental state, focus.

Glad you're OK Frank. The bike can be put back together, thank goodness you made it through with only bumps and bruises.

Dang, Frank! Glad you're OK! Did I read right that your (your body's) momentum was stopped by the ARMCO? Double dang, cuz most riders that slap the rail don't walk away - double glad you're OK! :scare:

...and Frank makes three. We're all done with crashes for a while - agreed everyone?

First Coyote, Then Terex now you. If all of you wanted an 06 just do the PDP. You are really going about this tha hard way :D

Glad your OK

Glad the gear worked. Great advertisement for the gear! Who makes the pants and jacket? Gotta Get Some!

Now go and see your Chiropractor or come Here to Seal Beach!

glad to see you upright & talking! Good luck with the usual BS involved with repairs/paperwork/etc. Your health, of course, is the most important.

Glad to hear your OK, that's a hell of a way to try and justify a new bike though...(just kidding)...if I didn't know better I'd think you & everyone else was riding up here(Canada)...our season just started & there's still a ton of crap on the roads...sand & salt... & I find myself always telling everyone to slow down due to lack of stick, & watch (especially in the corners) for all the stuff still on the roads.. but still my friends still insist on falling off.....(I did this last year at this time @ 10 kph...a snap low side (on the left side) to the tune of 3 broken ribs just 2 months after having my left shoulder rebuilt)... my preference would be that no one gets hurt & benefits from their mistakes......OK sorry for the preaching....I'm done now...get well soon.....Mike

FJRocha - too many of these threads lately!

Very glad to hear you walked away from yours. Here's hoping Pandora gets fixed up quickly and back on her feet real soon!

Side note - noticed you have the Joe Rocket Super Ego jacket - I almost got that one myself, but ended up with a cheaper Fieldsheer Attack jacket. How do you feel the jacket held up in your off?

Frank

WTF? I can't believe you tasted the grit, too... Aaaaw man.

As most everyone else pointed out, it's time to put a stop to this sequence of accident reports.

We lost a good buddy, collected a number of bruises and broken bones and damaged perfectly good bikes.

If we needed a reminder of our own fallibility and vulnerability, we have had several by now. Point taken. Can we proceed with our lives, please?

Frank, I'm glad you're not hurt. And that's the main thing.

BTW: I have an almost pristine alternator cover for you. Say the word and it'll be in the mail as soon as I can hobble to a Post Office.

+1 . your a lucky boy , and the odds are not getting to good i count 4 accidents and how many riders do we have ?

Along with everyone else, I'm really glad you were able to walk away from that.

Last fall I went through a two week period where I lost a friend and a few days later had two more get bruised up in separate mc accidents. Made me really think twice about this sport/hobby. But when the following weekend rolled around I knew that I couldn't make decisions about my life based on fear.

Nothing can be taken for granted and everytime I suit up for a ride, I hug my little ones and my wife and tell them I love them.

Heal quickly and be safe everyone.

Lots of sand and gravel on the roads this time of year, and the roads are beat up from the frost heaves and whatnot. Please be careful out there everyone.

FJRocha,

Glad you suffered no major injuries. A bruised ego, fortunately, heals quickly. The bike, with a judicious slathering of cash, even quicker. :)

Once again a forum member (too many, unfortunately) has unselfishly redefined the need for quality safety gear for all of us. I'm certainly glad for you that your cordura jacket held together long enough in the slide to keep you intact. I shudder to think what a few more yards of road abrasion would have done, let alone a face plant into the guardrail.

Let another piece of sobering news keep us all on our toes, and out of harms way! :erm:

Please be extremely careful out there, and don't forget to hug your loved ones like today might be your last! :friends:

+100

Glad to hear your OK, Yamaha makes parts every day.

Glad your OK, tis the season for get off's around here for sure.  I would be a little concerned to see light thru my gloves as in your picci.  I have been riding with the Held Steve gloves, have not tested their abrasion resistance, but the palms look like they offer better protection.

How fast were you travelling when this happened?
The only time I "got off" at a race track I was wearing Held Profi. It was a relatively low speed getoff at the hair pin over at Beaverun in W PA. And I wasn't on the brakes. Full tilt at the apex on the gas. Header on the SS touched down, lifted the bike up, lost the front and down I went. THe Held Profi obliterated like a cheap condom. Not only I could see thru the leather. The kevlar thread cut the seams as well. I can't even try to imagine what would have happened had I been doing serious track speed.

I personally think Helimot (old importer) was able to build a great reputation / mistique for held, but they did drop them for a reason. They are no longer Made in Germany. At least not the ones that are sold in the American market. In my experience they are rubbish. I've since gone back to Alpinestars. Just my $167.00 worth of Held experience.

Glad you were able to walk away, Frank. Sorry Pandora scuffed up.

Frank, (and everyone else) if your not in 'HARMS WAY' don't jump up! Do an inventory & body damage assessment on the ground. That everything works without major pain and isn't ground up. Adrenalin doesn't let you know if your hurt right away.

Now everybody lets keep the rubber side down!
