I was wondering how comfortable the FJR is for the female passenger. How tall and how comfortable have your passengers been? What type of seating or backrests do you all have? As you can see, and if you don't mind, I'm taking a survey.

Thank you for your replies!

Well, let's see. I have an '05, back rest is homemade. Wife is about 5'4", 120 lbs. See says it is tollerable. She got used to our old Goldwing. The feejer ain't a Goldwing. With all that said, she can manage day rides. We haven't attempted anything long distance. She says she is willing but not real inthused about the idea. Before the backrest, she tired of the rear seat very fast. With the backrest, she is able reposition and hold up much longer.

My wife is 5-7 and loves it. She has done 600 mile days with no problem. Of course, she has never been on a Wing so she doesn't know any better . . .

The wife actually used to nap on the back of the Goldwing. I'm sorry, but on the feejer - AIN'T HAPPENING!

Oh, yeah, thats her over there <------

Forgot, she has fibromyalgia, which is a major contributing factor. And don't anybody say crap about my spelling.

I am a 5'8 pillion, and the FJR is the most comfortable bike for either long or short rides. No back rests, padded seat etc. Stock standard and extremely nap friendly ! Previous bike, Yamaha Thunderace also very comfortable but the old BMW RT was a nightmare ! Had to stop avery 100 km for a leg stretch and the numb bum factor was terrible.

FJR, no numb bum and we only stop because we want to, no have to.

Happy napping to your pillion !!!

My wife says the FJR is more comfortable than my cruiser, which was my VStar 1100 classic, which I bought several back seats and backrests for. When I got my FJR, we rode up to Solvang california with a large camera bag as her backrest, and she enjoyed the trip. So now I'm considering either buying the backrest here or making my own to fit her 5' 105lbs frame.

The SO is 5' 6"and 130#. We lowered the passenger pegs and went to a Russell seat for both of us. The stock seats "pushed" her too far forward. We're currently adding a "bunny" pad to one of Gerald's luggage racks. She's good now for all day.

My previous bike was a 750 SECA with the back truck and my wife could ride all day in relative comfort. On the FJ, I do not have a backrest so she is tired after a few hours. Currently, I have a Gerald rack w/corbin receptical on order. I'm anticipating this should do the trick.

BTW - My wife is 5'1", 105 lbs.

Eve's 5'7". I have a Givi box w/pad that's relocated about three inches rearward and a Rick Mayer saddle. She has dozed off and never complained about comfort, even before the saddle. A givi box in stock location with no pad & a padded jacket should provide similar comfort. Oh, I recently fitted some passenger peg relocators that she also finds a big improvement.

Anna is 5' 8" 120~125. She likes the seat of the FJR better than the R1100RS she spent 45~50 k miles on. Butt, she prefers the BMW vibes to those of the FJR. No backrest, stock seats.

My wife is 5’2”, between 130 and 140, and loves to ride on the FJR. She says the bike is comfortable but she has back problems and can’t do really long rides because of it. I have the Yamaha top case with the backrest pad.

My wife is 5'4" and weighs 115 lbs. She didn't much care for the stock FJR seat but, with the backrest ( Corbin ) fitted to my Garauld rack, she was OK for extended riding. I went to a Sargent seat and she is MUCH happier now, as she has an expanded seating area.

Catherine is 5'10". Mods/additions to the bike: passenger peg extenders, Givi V46 trunk with backrest, trunk relocator from Toecutter. She rates it 7 on a scale of 1 - 10 (that's general comfort level, not compared to other bikes).

Alright,

I guess I will add some comments as well. My S.O. 5' 1" 120lbs, (oops did I say that) likes the back seat alot..

However, she does complain that the stock top bag (with pad) kicks back at her when hitting even small bumps in the road.

If anyone has a solution for that, I'm all ears.

My wife is 5' 7" 132 lbs: has been on 200 - 250 mile rides on our '92 Concours, our '99 Trophy 900 and the '03 Trophy 1200. All had top boxes for her to rest on, as does the FJR (Givi w/ no back pad). She prefers the FJR -with OEM seats- to all before. The Connie -being shaft driven- rated higher than both our newer Trophies. She hated riding on our cruiser.

When you love the wife and enjoy having her on *some* rides, it pays to make her happy. ;)

The FeeJeR will.

My bride unit is 5'2" and 105. She likes riding about 75 miles on the stock FJR seat. She hated the stock seat on my Warrior, can't blame her for that, and was terrified to ride it on the highway, even with a sissybar backrest.
