Have a little fun...Pass 'em on the right!

now that an HORRIBLE idea! :angry2:

was on a two lane road and a sport bike (black ninja i think) as i was getting ready for a right hand turn, was in my truck with a small trailer full of "stuff" from helping someone move, and the tool almost got clipped trailer on the shoulder then saw the front end of my truck. to say the least i was able to move over just a bit so he didn't hit my truck or the into the barbwire fence that keeps the cows out of the highway.

(and yes i am one of those cages you see on the "Right" hand side of the freeway tooling along at 55-60 when i have a fully loaded trailer)

It's even more fun after a couple a beers!

Go too fast though, and the crack pipe blows hot. Tdub told me.

we made a game of passing on the roads around here

wait till the last moment before you pass and see how far up the hood of the oncoming car you can slap

j/k :p

WTF? Passing on a two lane road is such an everyday occurrence for me, I don't even think twice about it. The USA must sure be a strange place to ride a bike if this is an issue over there?

Uh.... yeah, I had the same thot.

Personally, I think it's more dangerous in a cage passing another vehicle.... the acceleration is so much slower than almost any bike! Even my Harley!

I just make SURE I can see far enuf ahead, otherwise I wait. and no passing on double yellow lines... I don't have any tickets yet and don't intend to get any...<G> sometime that makes for a boring ride, but it's sure cheaper!

The biggest risk I see when passing in these situations are cars pulling onto the road from side streets and driveways; I look closely for cars waiting to pull onto the road.
I am with Vabrzn here for sure. A 1 car pass or 25 cars in a row pass... Watch out for cars turning onto the roadway from driveways, parking lots and cross streets. Most cagers are only looking back before they enter on these types of roads. Suddenly you have a road block infront of you.

Close... It's the western side of Dead Indian Memorial Hwy.
Ah, that's what I meant :)Ya, I knew it was familiar, Gosh, haven't been on that for a couple of years, ....soon. I use to run that after going through Butte Falls, Big Elk Road ...etc. Kinda forgot about it, I'll be up there soon to check it out again.

I always pass with my front wheel in the air.

Oh wait... I'm trying to reply in a smart arse, funny way to my own post - doh!

Personally I feel safer passing & getting out ahead by myself away from the cars, trucks, etc. Better visibility & a bigger cushion of space. Generally try to get the cushion space & then generally I maintain it. Road situation (trees on side of road, deer areas, etc.) all go into the equation. Generally I ride in rural areas. You can only do so much to keep the cushion space in urban & suburban areas. Ride safe.

I hate passing or following garbage trucks. Especially ones that leak.

Is this a particular risk? Is there some fuckle that will help? What should I do?

Wait till you have the joy of getting behind a fully loaded cattle or pig truck.

How about an RV that forgot to cap their sewage drain.....
Or a truck full of cages of chicken on their way to market...

Only good thing is when some of the cages fall of.... free chicken... all ya gotta do is catch them....<BG>

Wait, you mean the other side of the yellow lines isn't the passing lane? Uh oh.

Nahh... that can't be right.
