I have been asked to post the following from Santa Barbara:

Patti passed away at 10:15 this morning (PST) with family by her side. She left with an aura of peace about her and a smile on her face. Her family considers itself fortunate in that they were able to spend all their time with her since she was diagnosed with cancer. That gave them the closure none of us were lucky enough to have with Tim.

Patti wanted her body donated to medicine so that some sense might be made of this one-in-a-million type of renal cancer that took her away from us much, much too soon. As such, there are no current plans for a memorial service. Meanwhile, if you wish to express your sentiments to her family, the address, again, is:

When the time is right, Patti’s family will let us know – through Tim’s brother Chris - if there is a worthy cause that donations can be made to or of any plans for a celebration of life.

Although many of us out east never met Patty, we are very saddened at her deadly illness and her passing. Her time on earth was too short...as was her hubby's. Here in Wheaton, I feel the sadness for someone I've never met.

May her family be comforted during this incredibly sad time.
