I had a few extra hours so I took a little ride in the Sierra Foothills around Sonora, CA. It was clear, warm, and showing 66 degrees on the dash. I started in Sonora off SR 108 and turned north onto Rawhide Rd. I hope the photos get attached correctly. Don't drop the hammer too bad. It's my first attempt.

Went north on SR 49 and crossed New Melones Reservior

Got to have a pic of the bike. The Russell seat was money well spent.

I figured Bustanut would like to shop here.

Downtown Angles Camp off of SR 49

Turned westbound onto Pool Station Rd. in San Andreas. Nice road with no traffic.

Got to SR 4 and turned eastbound back to Angles Camp.

Turned southbound on SR 49 and went a block to Murphys Grade Rd. Went eastbound on Murphys Grade to the town of Murphys

Went through Murphys to SR 4. Took SR 4 west to Parrotts Ferry Rd. Took Parrotts Ferry Rd. back to Sonora.

Overall a perfect ride. 110 miles and I'd say at least 90 miles was in the curves. Now what to do tomorrow. Should I go for another ride or should I go skiiing. Decisions Decisions! :D

Nice ride. Nice pics. Decent writing.

But I gotta tell ya' you're making me a bit cranky. We got rain today, freezing rain the other day, and before that we had snow.

I'm dying here.

HR - I'd appreciate it if you'd keep these posts to yourself. If I can't be on those roads, I don't want to see them. Thank you. :p Just kidding!

AWESOME! Excellent report & pix. I've been on those raods, towns, and have similar pix of the bridge, water level was about the same. You have the best roads in NoCal bar none, that's why each year I do a ride for a week in that area.

Now I feel a tear coming on...

Now I understand why you're called Happy Rider. :D I would be too if I lived in that area and could be on those roads just outside my door.

Thanks for sharing. ;)

Yep!

Rawhide Road from Jamestown is waay kewel.

Poole Station should be on everyone's "favorite list" and that part of Hwy 4 (between Poole Station and Angels Camp) is fuh-uhn! Then crossing Hwy 49 for Murphys Grade is a "must ride". Er...I mean...since we're here, why not....

A local from Sonora took me on Parrot's Ferry Rd. IIRC, it gets a bit narrow climbing the canyon, especially with "spooked" cagers on the road.

If I lived in that area I'd have chosen a "handle" similar to yours.

Nice job on your first report. :clapping:

I even did Parrot's Ferry Brewing many years back when the brewery was there. Went back a few years ago, it's some wine joint. There was a cool little airport not far from there doing an air show. Great WWII war birds.

It's Columbia airport. Cal Fire flies out of it all summer. They also have a great grass strip with camp sites. You can fly in and walk to Columbia State historic park.

Nice pics, and report. No doubt you have got some great roads down in your neck of the woods. Sucks to be here in the Sierra foothills owning motorcycles, doesn't it? ;)

Some nice memories of roads that the Bluestreeks, the Uberkuls, and Andrew and JoyFulGirl showed me on the BigDawg ride out of WFO? in Reno, years ago.

These days I'm having to content myself with busting big powder on my sled in the Monashee Mountains, and patiently waiting for my Russell seat to come home. Thanks for the memories!

Outstanding Ride Report, Happy Rider; and thank you for the great memories. I grew up working every single Summer, on my Grandfather Ed Stanley's Sleepy Hollow Ranch, north on Atlas Road ending at the Stanislaus River, East of Oakdale, CA.

Beautiful country and nice people live in that area! Grand-dad Ed bought everything from the Sears Catalog; from farm equipment to household goods. He bought the ranch an Allstate skooter, which was actually a Puch, just for his grandkids!

I think you did pretty dang well for your first time! :clapping: Some of my favorite roads there... I miss riding them so thanks for letting me live vicariously through your pics. :)
