Hi all

I am in the process of mounting a pair of Piaa 1100 lights that I bought this last summer. I had the bright (or dunm) idea of mounting them on the mirror assemblies. They come with brackets and a bolt (washer and nut) M10 1.5 pitch. If I was to drill a hole on the mirror stand (just above the rubber base) and then tap it, is there enough metal there to support the bracket (i mean metal thickness). I can use rubber washers to minimize rubbing and vibration) Another idea would be to drill the hole and then insert one of those threaded rivnuts (https://staceydavid.com/node/4988?page=https://staceydavid.com/node/4988?page=)

Sorry, I can't get the bloody picture to show, I use picassa and I guess it doesn't work as photobucket!

Thanks

I have had the PIAA 1100AX Platnum for many miles and they are a great lamp. I would suggest using a mount that attaches under the mirror using the two mirroe bolts.

Hi Canadian fjr

Can you post a picture of your mounts? Where did you get them Garauld?

I just got a set of mounts from Garauld for my '05.

I could have made them, but these were bent just right, with the holes drilled and lined up perfect, and powder coated.

Guys

Take a look at this...

These little buggers seem like ideal for this type of job if you want to use the side mirrors to mount you lights. I am afraid it would only work in GEN I mirrors...

As a curiosity... does anyone know what the wall thickness of the mirrors (the stand that is) may be? I need this to pick the right rivnut as it also depends on the thickness of the wall they will be inserted. I guesstimate 3-4mm... Anyone?
