Actually, The Hub is in Newton County which is dry, but you can go up the road a few miles between Marble Falls and Harrison, and just over the county line is a big and well stocked liquor store in Boone Co. At least there was in 2014.

And within the city of Harrison across from the Quality Inn is a good sized liquor store.

Ah! I stand corrected. That must have been a really old map I found.

The following from a friend who lives in Fayetteville. Though, if you're staying in the same place all week it won't matter. Another thought, when/if you call for reservations find a place that caters to big rigs. I see those everywhere. They'll have plenty of room to park your trailer.

Good to hear from you. Glad to help. If they are looking for a secure storage facility, I would recommend Arkansas Self Storage. They have locations in Fayetteville & Lowell that are secure & easy to access. The couple who oversee both facilities are themselves riders who enjoy touring together. They could look up the Lowell ph# and ask to speak w/ Danny or Carla for advice or cost.

More from my friend who lives in the area.

Ed, I've met lots of folks thru the yrs who trailer to Harrison & stay at either the Hampton or Holiday Inn Exp. I often stay at that Hampton when on business there. The hotels share the same parking lot & both have plenty of room for trailers. Great place to use as a base camp. Good eats at 'Jaime's Local Flavor' and 'Neighbors Mill.'
Hope it helps,

Arkansas south of I-40 is pretty dry. Hot Springs is not, but you probably won't go that far South. If you decide to pack the bikes and head south, I would suggest you also pack a couple flask of fire water.

Another thought would be to use Hwy 7 and Hwy 123 as your route to and from Harrison. Take one going South and the other going north. Both of these are absolutely fantastic riding roads - hell I could just do laps all weekend on those two alone. For your day trip loops, you can concentrate more East/West, although admittedly, you will likely use small parts of Hwy 7 and/or 123 to serve as connectors for your loops.

Are ya'll just going down to ride, or are you interested in doing other activities (hiking, canoeing, etc)?

Arkansas in the Spring is nice - hopefully the Red Bud and Dogwood trees will be blooming. I'm kind of jealous...

Hwy 43 south out of Harrison is a nice ride as well. It could tie into Hwy 21 for a good ride either way, north or south depending on how far you want to go in one day. Lunch at Oark is almost a must ;)

Almost? Well, for lunch anyway, but pie at Oark IS a must!

Last time I was in AR, I spent a few days at the Best Western in Clarksville before joining my riding group in Eureka Springs. BW is cheap enough (AAA Rates) and I didn't have any problems leaving the truck & trailer while I was out all day long doing loops in all directions for days on some of the best roads in the area. There's a BW in Russellville too - just to the east on I40.

Be sure to stop at the Ozark Cafe in Jasper for lunch...

I think we will stick to riding, eating, riding with a few sight seeing stops and a few pictures. I like to hike, canoe, and other stuff but I have several months of no motorcycle riding to make up for.

I've heard about CJ's in Russellville, but haven't stopped there yet.

I did eat excellent BBQ in Russellville once, but I can't remember the name of the place. Heading north on Hwy 7, it is just past the Arkansas River crossing on the right hand side. The pork ribs were stupid good, man.

Just another outside thought...

If you make arrangements to leave the truck and trailer at one hotel, you can still make a multi-day loop and not come back to that same hotel every single night. They probably would cut you some slack if you handled it properly.

Well it looks like we will be staying at the Hampton Inn in Harrison. They are normally $20.00 higher than the Quality Inn but Hotels.com had a deal today so they are less expensive and they are rated a little better.

We will be arriving Monday night the 4th, riding all day Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday until early afternoon. I have still been unable to find time to learn Basecamp to make GPX files so I will just have to create some simple loops to punch in the GPS. It will be quite an interesting collection of bikes going along in the group. Goldwing, sportster, old Yamaha cruiser of some type and I will have either the Tenere, or FJR along depending on how I feel when it's time to load the bikes.

Thanks for everyone's ideas and tips. I will try to post up some loops for last minute tips or tweeking from some of you AR experts.

Pants' Guide for Navigating the Ozarks

1. Fold (or orient within the GPS) the map such that Harrison is almost in the upper right most corner.

2. Close you eyes

3. With your index finger, point to anywhere on the map (or screen)

4. Go there.

5. Rinse, lather, and repeat until about 3:30 pm.

6. Use the GPS to navigate back to the hotel. Don't forget to stop at the liquor store on the way.

Your welcome. Have a good time.

I have a few also if you want, just PM me your email addy.

You might want to check out Little Cedar Cabins in Harrison. Five of us are using them for as a base camp for our June Fathers & Sons ride week. Their web site looks good and they are motorcyclist friendly. www.littlecedarscabins.com and 870-365-7375.

We are using the house and one cabin. They have plenty of parking for trucks and trailers. The house has a carport so we can park the bikes under roof at night.

Haven't stayed there yet, but over the phone they are friendly and act like they want our business. Can't wait to sit in a rocker on the front porch with a cold one and rehash all of the day's great riding.

Guess I forgot step ZERO - verify that you have PLENTY of tire tread on your bike, front and back. 145 hp on those road is gonna cost you some rubber!!
