Some 180's are starting to trickle in around here, that's a good sign for us. I will be patiently waiting for my fresh new PR2's.

Well...its Saturday.
Has the shipping company confirmed that it's on route to him? Or is the shipping company gonna confirm when they pick it up from Michelin?
I doubt it, or we probably would have heard from Jeff or RC Lar by now....

I get the impression that Jeff doesn't know the shipping status until a truck pulls up and opens its doors to reveal what's inside. Probably a side-effect of owning a business, being the HMFIC, and turning wrenches all at the same time.

I wasn't in on this group buy, because I was in on one a couple weeks earlier (off an XX forum) with the same vendor. Our GB was smaller -- only about a dozen pairs. We got the last 180s that Jeff had in stock and I got 2 pairs. Toe and I corresponded about it as he was setting up this GB.
Here's what I can tell you about my experience with the vendor (I didn't run the GB), keeping in mind that for our GB, he had the tires in stock. (As most of us know, 180 PR2s have been out of stock for a LOT of suppliers in the last couple months.) Jeff was up front about the fact that he only had so many pairs in stock. (In this FJR GB, he was up front about the fact that he'd have to order them.) The guy running the XX GB limited it to only the number of pairs that Jeff had in stock. Jeff shipped both my pairs the day after he received my PayPal payment. I'm in Calif, so it took a little longer to receive them, but others on the east coast, TX, etc. were reporting receiving their tires within a couple days. Each pair of tires I received was boxed separately as a set, so I got two boxes, plus more Michelin decals than I would know what to do with. Some folks got free t-shirts thrown in for no apparent reason, as well.

My take on it was that this vendor is a stand up guy who did exactly as he said he would, as promptly as possible, and that was the uncontradicted experience of everybody who got in on that GB. I would definitely deal with Jeff again, without any concerns.

Here's hoping Michelin and their distribution chain can start getting 180s out to their retailers post haste so you guys will have your PR2s soon.
Thanks for the additional background information...it helps make the waiting easier to take. I can wait patiently if I know that people are working hard to make it happen...just have to wait on Michelin now I guess. I hope that they get the distribution kinks taken care of for future orders. :clapping:

I may just have to ride a little longer on these Storms...

Sorry for the late update, guys. Had some internet challenges....

I did speak with Jeff yesterday. He had spoken with the trucking company and was told his order was on three different trucks. They said the first truck was leaving yesterday (Friday) and that he could see that truck as early as Monday or Tuesday. Trust me, Jeff is as anxious and frustrated as anyone. Unfortunately, because of the overwhelming demand for those tires, he can only go by what he's told by his rep as far as availability. I can also say that he is a very standup guy and I believe we'll be doing more GB's with him in the future....and not just for tires.

Be patient, guys. I know the waiting sucks, but everyone appears to be doing all they can. We're close.

Knowing a little about how this stuff operates, that is most likely the truth.

No problems here. Given the inventory ramifications that often accompany pending price increases (retailers fill their shelves at the last second so as to take advantage of older/lower prices), I figured there would be shipping issues.

I have confidence that this will work out fine ....but many thanks to those staying on top of the situation!

No problem here, I just bought a set of Pirellis so I'm covered for my trip if these don't make it in time

I received a phone call from Jeff today. He told me the tires will start arriving this week and he will start shipping them out immediately.

Jeff also said that his recovery from the wind storm is about complete.

Regards

Dave

That's good news if he is right.

Do you know Jeff? Why did he call you instead of Toecutter or Larry?

No worries for me, I have PR2s on my bike now. Bought them from Jeff when he got his first shipment Sept. 2007 and they have 5000 miles on them now.

I still have about 4 mm of tread left so I have many miles left on this set.

Thanks Toe for setting this up with a good vendor.

Ahh, the mysteries of life..

and of group buys..

Just happy to be in this one and no worries...

I've got plenty of tread life for another month or so on my PR1's. I would like thank everyone that's checking up on this. It's nice to get an update and to know that someone is keeping their finger on the pulse.

Thanks!

thanks for the update, i'm anxiously awaiting the delivery, since both my tires now are almost slicks

Wheaton.

So why did Jeff call me.

When this group buy came up I wanted in but had no pay pal account. Anyway I called Jeff and told him I wanted to be included and would pay via credit card. After speaking with Jeff for a few minutes he took my credit card information and said he would wait to charge the account until he had the tires and they were ready for shipping.

Monday afternoon, Pacific time, my cell phone rang and to my surprise it was Jeff claiming ( a very short form of the story) he would have tires this week and asking if he should charge the card now. Many of you have spoken highly of Jeff so I told him to go ahead, charge the card and I will look forward to receiving the tires shortly.

There you have it. That is why Jeff called me.

See ya at NAFO. :yahoo:

Dave

Jeff has our new shoes coming in.....excellent. I have been riding hard and need a new front real soon.

Thanks again for the GB and the peeps in carge, production and availability along with a friggin' tornado kinda stalled this one.

Show me the rubber.
