This is how you know you pissed of a mathematician. I would love to have seen the look at the bill processing center when they open this, but then this means they had to waste corporate time, which drove up all our bills, and will ultimatily llead to the down fall of man. Shame on him for trying to make a point.

Since my boss sent it to me, I thought it might be OK to share it while I am still at work. That horse is now beat.

Err, e^(i*pi) represents one half of a revolution around the complex unit circle, so e^(i*pi) = -1.

The analysis is wrong. The check is made out for .002 Dollars.

e^iPi = -1

The sum amounts to 1.

So the total is .002 -1 + 1, or .002.

I don't care if it's correct . . . . . . it's a good laugh. I wonder how long the accounting dept spent on it?

While I have been guilty of being creative with the "memo" section of checks, my math skills were never good enough to mess with someone to that extent. Anyway, next time ya'll write some checks, add some interesting "memo's."

Such as: Extortion, or Blackmail, or **** Collection, or Nude Pictures, or Sexual Favors...

e^(i pi) + 1 = 0 was voted the most beautiful equation of all time, everybody knows that. :p
In fact, Euler was rumored to have said that e^(i Pi) = -1 is "proof that God exists".

Can I get a Wiki-check on that?

Thanks in advance.

Couldn't find anything. Did find a reference on Google using a different formula tho. I tend to think it's a false statement.
