A life change happened a couple of days ago....

I traded in the FJR for a 2013 Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200...

I really did love my FJR but after a couple of test rides on this baby I was hooked.

So now all roads are open to me.

That's not the only reason we hated you...

butt, congrats!

I hope to keep in front of you in Hooterville this fall so I don't have to stare and be mesmerized by the bigness of your bike's rear end.

Please tell me how wide is the bike from bag to bag. Just curious.

Rob

Good friend of mine in SC has an Explorer. Loves it so far - moved from a VFR800 to the Triumph. Last year, I took it for a spin after doing 600 miles on the FJR (side trip on the way to EOM). Great power plant - the handlebar feel like they were 10' wide! Very smooth, you should enjoy it - congrats.

Built 5 minutes from my house!

I must admit I do like the look of those over (dare I say it) the SuperTen!

Congrats and enjoy!

I call dibs on riding behind Gramps in Hooterville! Drafting is where it's at. My gas bill will be minimal.

Very nice bike Marc. Now that you've got the bike, I bet this snow we're getting and what's forecasted, is about driving you nuts.

Nice bike Gramps. I beat myself up all year trying to decide between the Explorer and Tenere. I love the looks, power and cruise control of the Explorer but hated the sound of the engine when test driving it. Reminds me of my three cylinder John Deere tractor. The worst part is I never had a chance to ride a Tenere where the Triumph dealer allowed a test ride. The final decisions came down to price and familiarity with my Yamaha dealer over the Triumph dealer. I wanted a Triumph but I’m stuck in my Yamaha ways.

Tenere in Texas Hill contry last month. It hurt leaving the new FJR in the garage back at North Dakota but I had to see what the hell this Tenere thing was all about!

Gramps,

Nice bike! I'm the opposite of Abercrombie, I love the sound of a triple, especially under full acceleration (maybe because my John Deere is only a V-twin?

). Had an old Trophy 900 for a while and that was the best part of that bike (when it was running well). I'd be a bit more tempted by the Tiger 800 XC for versatility, but the Explorer is certainly a better long distances road bike. Closer to the FJR in purpose. Best of luck with it. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun.

As for the "wide beam," those bags do look like they will hold a ton, which will be great for long trips. But for everyday running around you might want to see if you can fit the Triumph racks up with a set of Seahorse SE 720 cases. They only cost $50 each, are completely water tight, and are a great size for everyday use. They the near the equivalent to the considerably more expensive Pelican 1550 cases.

I've been running a set of them on my V-strom for a couple of years now. I just used the Happy Trails pucks to mount them on my SW Motech racks. I'll bet yoiu could rig up something similar for the TrEx if you wanted.
