Ponyfool, please get our get-well thoughts and prayers to him if you can. Thankfully it's another case of ATGATT preventing major injury or death.
From local news station this morning:
A Portland motorcycle officer was rushed to the hospital Tuesday morning after a head-on collision with a car in northeast Portland. Officer Brian Hunzeker, a 7-year veteran of the police bureau, was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital for treatment of broken bones and other injuries, police said.
According to police, Hunzeker was heading west on Northeast Sandy Boulevard about 7:45 a.m. when he collided with an oncoming Chevrolet Malibu that was trying to turn left onto Northeast 28th Avenue. Witnesses told investigators that the officer had a green light to go through the intersection at the time. The driver of the Chevy was identified as 28-year-old April Butz. Police did not immediately issue any citations and were still investigating the incident Tuesday.
Hunzeker, 34, will likely not be able to return to duty for several months due to the injuries, police said.
