Can someone point me to the link of the Power commander install on the 2006 model? I know that fjrtech has the older models but I remember someone else added a few things about the 06. How do you lift the rear of the gas tank? I removed the 6 10mm bolts as warchild suggested....but it appears that there are more bolts holding the tank in place.

Look, you can do it the "professional" way or you can do it the take your time way and make sure you got it right way. I took the tank off and got everything out of the way so I could see things clearly. The install is pretty much of a no brainer done that way. There are a lot of wiring harness things in the road. Don't be afraid to clip some tie ties. It's very easy to see and disconnect the O2 sensor when you have the tank out of the way. Get power direct from the battery too and ground it there also. That way you won't have any possibility for power or ground loop issues. It may take a minute or two longer to do it this way but that is if you know what you are doing, and most of us don't on the first excursion under the tank.

Gunny!

Makes the install easier and you can do a better job. I found the instructions that came with it were just fine.

I'm glad to say that I successfully installed the PCIII. It would have went so much faster if I understood the instructions better. Anyway, I first ran a combo map given to me by a fellow FJR forum guy for a stock bike. I wasn;t that thrilled to be honest. It seemed a little rough in the higher rpms and still jerky in the low rpms....that was yesterday. Today, I installed the map that came with the power commander and did one extra thing....I turned my idle up a tad. It shows over a 1000 rpm at idle now where it used to be almost dead on. I can' :yahoo: t be sure if it was a combination of both but, my bike feels like a different smoother animal......I'm very satisfied with the way it's running now. :yahoo:

Next, I'll try somebody's risers and hopefully loosen that darn throttle spring. I had the gas tank propped up by a cut 2"X4" and I could see some movement when I twisted the throttle but, I couldn't clearly see what I wanted to (was more concerned about the pc anyway). Have you guys been able to unhook the spring without removing the gas tank? Just FYI, my bike's CO was -8 10 10 11 from the factory.

Hey, did you leave the CO numbers the same? I'm almost sure I won't have a choice but to get the PCIII if my surging doesn't improve enough with a good TB synch job, but '07s have different CO numbers (5,18,18,21), and was wondering if we should make them even. Well, I'll make them even before my next ride (all 18s), but was referring to leave them even with the PCIII. And I understand you need to 'calibrate' the PC after any change, so both the CO changes and idle changes should be done BEFORE that takes place, correct? Thanks.

I don't know for sure but the PCIII seems to be the answer with the right map.
