Just got off the phone with Ron from powerlet and he told me they just had a chance to really go over the '06 FJR after someone who needed help mounting a Starcom brought one in to them (someone from this board?). The right side powerlet kit doesn't work on the '06's front panel anymore because lack of room under the cover so they are developing one for use on the left side, probably to go in place of the square black cover. Also, there is no way they can get a dual outlet on the rear anymore because of changes made by Yamaha and will soon offer outlets on both right and left rear with appropriate wire to attach. Evidently they are working on a kit to run power to the bags so the outlets can be mounted there and are also designing a fuse block for under seat mounting....

Hey there Axeman, you wouldn't have Ron's phone number @ powerlet, I would love to have them send rear mount powerlet kit to Tony @ Yamaha Sportscenter so they could have it installed for me when I go pick up the new FJR in a couple of weeks. :) SMC

SMC,

I'm not at home at the moment but will be there tomorrow and will pass along his email address to you. He also told me that if you needed a shorter wiring harness because of an underseat fuse block instead of running a line up to the battery they would be able to accomodate that. The price for a rear powerlet with shorter harness would be cheaper even though they would custom make it....

SMG,

E-Mail for Ron at Powerlet is:

[email protected]

He told me to send your name, address, and phone # with item you would like, where you are mounting it, length of harness you want, etc... and they would work something out.

Thanks Axe, I just got off the phone with Powerlet. My new rearsets are on their way. Stooopid me, several months ago, I ordered the old style dual rearset, hoping it would be adaptable. Since I already have one on my '04, there is no point in throwing it in with the sale of that bike. Anyone know of anyone interested in a 03-05 dual rearset?? B)

I got the powerlet mounted on the right side cover on my '06, using the supplied FJR kit harness and connector, but just barely. There is just enough of a nook between the fuse blocks to do it, but you need to be spot on where you drill the hole in the cover or you're f'd, and there's only room for one. I mounted a second one on the left side, along with the heat-troller and switch for the DL's.
