Pulled the trigger kinda early on the "I Carry a Gun Because" thread did you not Bounce?

If you start locking threads because you think they are going to get ugly, then half the old timers' threads will be locked as soon as they are started.

All we are saying, is give a Peacemaker a chance!

I don't own a gun, but I'm widcha. However, if he had said that this particular gun is better than that gun because of this nifty little mechanism right'cher...it would have been a technical discussion As it was, the only way to continue the discussion would be to say "Yes, I agree emeffer!...or Hell, NO!". As it stands, the thread was not disappeared...but simply locked with the original statement still visible.

You can have all your friends post likes on the post if you want.

Again. I agree with the post...now if we substituted the word "cows" for guns, and said that everybody should own a "cow" for personal safety...the thread might even be funny.

Yes, but it does say "off topic discussion" ...... do we still have to talk about two wheeled things?

I yanked the wheels off my smoker....whatta I do now? ;)

I kind of hate to say it, because I despise censorship and because I find Bounce a bit oppressive, but it was probably the right decision on Bounce's part.

Yes, it is in "Off Topic" and yes it was probably posted with good intentions but...

We are first and foremost a forum for the discussion of Yamaha FJRs. We do get to stretch our boundaries pretty good on that one.

Even gun topics that start off technical start getting political, opinionated, ugly, divisive and foolish. We are just too large and diverse as a group for it to be otherwise.

That topic, while probably posted in good faith, just left the door wide open for argument and meanness.

It is very close to Christmas and winter is closing much of this group in and off their bikes for a few months. Let us not drift into meanness and unhappiness now. Due to my location I do not suffer from the doldrums of winter like most of you. It is a rare day that I cannot fill my saddlebags with ammo and pistols for a ride to the indoor range for a combination stress relief ride. I realize most of you do not have that luxury this time of year. If you guys can just stay jolly through Christmas...

One of my favorite lines from The Princess Bride, "Until then, sleep well and dream of large women".

So Redfish Hunter, you say "lets not drift into meanness" and then you rub it in our face about how you get to ride every day. That's just mean.

Well, sure we mostly come here to talk about FJRs, but I find discussions about smokers, MMA, and football among other things in off topic discussions. Sure, it had the potential to go wrong, but to shut it down while it was civil does seem a bit premature.

Nonetheless, it's not my house, not my rules.

I'm a Bills fan. If you want to hurt my feelings, start talking football.

Well, LittleJon, I feel your pain. Felt it for a number of years until the Bills did me a favor and hired Chan Gailey away from Georgia Tech. THANK YOU, BUFFALO BILLS!

Fixed that right up for ya.

Cows will not fit in my sidecases. In fact, the cow that lives at the house I pay for will not fit on the back seat of my FJR. If she did manage to perch herself up there I would need the rear tire from a dump truck, the spring from the front of a '97 Ford diesel, and a subframe welded from 6 inch channel iron.

Surprisingly, the Admins have allowed this thread to go unchecked. We should all appreciate that.

I dunno ... I'm a strong supporter of the 2nd ammendment, and I love motorcycles, but these "what and why do you carry" threads ought to at least go to NEPRT. Or maybe NEPT at the least. I don't think they're common on this forum. They are common on some of the other motorcycle forums.

My personal take on it is that, if you do carry, it would be wise to keep it to yourself. Keep 'em guessin'. Don't show it until you're using it.
