I THINK I'm one of the original three following along with the home version of the Kwacker Six Game, but if not, count me in as #8!

Ray...DON'T TOUCH THE EDGES!!!

It's looking like Carver ought to sell tickets to this show. Just got in the shop and will get some explosives ready for the dissasembly. It's so much quicker than using real tools and if it still works we are in luck.

all in good time. Had to stop and fix tail lights on the old truck cause I have to drive it in a parade tonight. I'll try to get you a few later. at the moment the impeller doesn't want to come off of the water pump so it is thinking about it while I work on lights.

UPS just dropped off the pistons and head gasket. If you want something to do we are going to need a complete gasket set at some point so you might see if one can be had.

I just sent Don about 30 pictures from today so he can post what he wants. Motor looks pretty good inside. Three of the six cylinders are pretty oily and you can feel a pretty good ridge in the top of the bore. Got to do some reading before I pull the cylinders cause there are a **** load of chains in this thing along with some shafts and bevel gears that live in the cylinder block.

I think if I get the right amount of Tannerite in the right place I can launch the whole thing at once.

Ray, this engine never 'seated' in. It has burned copious amounts of oil from day one. Like 1 quart every 250 - 300 miles, which Kawi said was 'acceptable' consumption. :****: I followed the Kawi break-in guidelines, and for the first 20k this engine was serviced by Kawi factory / dealership techs. For what that's worth. I've read of many 79 and early 80 KZ1300 engines having oil consumption problems. IIIRC, somewhere in the mid 80 or early 81, the ring metallurgy changed, solving the issue.

I'm hoping the new pistons and rings are good and help solve the oil problem.

You would not believe how oil-fouled the spark plugs were for normal running. When I toured on this bike, I always had 2 sets of 6 fresh plugs...

I would have thought for that kind of consumsion there would be more carbon in the exhaust ports. They are black and sooty but not much build up. The cylinders have significant wear so maybe the rings weren't compatible and ate up the bores. Once I get them off I can do a good job of measuring to see how much wear there is. Probably Friday cause I got errands tomorow in the city.
