So I installed my Vista-cruise a few days ago. Doing so has allowed me the to notice that the bike pulls to the left with my hands off the bars.

Tried it on several different roads and it consistantly pulls.

Anyone else notice this?

The bags were not loaded so there wasn't an issue with weight distribution.

Tire are wearing normally.

Guess I'll just keep my hands on the bars. :bleh:

Diesel I have noticed the same thing? I can't explane it but it does pull left. I have 69,000 miles and no tire wear problems? Nothing I can think of to cause it. :dntknw:

Torque from the left-side shaft drive?
I thought the same thing....So I put it neutral thinking it might change...but it didn't.

Oh well,.....My Centauro pulls left too.....but the popular explanation for that is because the engine sits about an inch left of center in the bike.

This has come up a few times. It is not normal behaviour. Frank goes dead straight hands off, as do most FJR's.

Neutral or not, the shaft is still spinning. Mine also pulls slightly, but not worribly so.

Yep, mine is dead nuts on straight.

I think you're wheel weights need to be reversed, If the weights are on the left instead of the right side of the rim. Makes all the difference in the world.

Just kidding....

Let us know if anyone comes up with a solution.

Usually, once again, usually , it's in the front end or tires. Unless the bikes been crunched, front end is a bit tweaked, settings are off leg to leg, or the tires are slightly off. Check settings (height in trees, preload etc), loosen the tree clamping, about all one can do.

You can adjust that pull somewhat by where you place the right side swingarm pinch on the axel shouder.

Pull to the left? My 05 doesn't exactly pull to the left when hand off. It's more like it "gently drifts" to a left hands off. I can compensate by sitting slightly off center, so I just chocked it up to a more nimble steering geometry than past bikes I'd owned... Who knew?

road crown
This is indeed the most common cause. Due to the width of the tires, they have a tendency to climb to the higher part of the road. As we drive on the right side, and the crown is in the center, it appear to want to go left.

Assuming a consistent pull does exist irrespective of road crown, crosswinds, and asymetric loading, then this is one of those things where a little is within normal production tolerances and a lot is not.

Someone saying their bike doesn't pull at all, does not mean that one with a slight pull has anything wrong with it. There are a lot of variables involved and everything has tolerances. My FJR tends to pull slighthy right, but it isn't very pronounced.

My guess is that your bike is within normal variances, but it's impossible to say over the net.

The problem is easily solved: KEEP YOUR FRIGGIN' HANDS ON THE BARS! ;)

Of course, your FJR could be a democrat...

Damn, TWN, you kill me, man! I'm a straight shooter myself...........no drift at all.

I,m with Ramblin Man. First check the pinch bolt on the rear. When you put the rear wheel back you have to do up the pinch bolt in order to tighten the axle bolt. If you then undo to pinch bolt the axle centres itself properly and you can then do it up again.
