My dealer called yesterday and my long awaited FJR is here. I'll pick it up tomorrow. I got a copy of the MSO from the dealer with the VIN on it so I'd have the number for my insurance company. The VIN on my bike ends in 000022. I noticed on the board that Kaitsdad also has a 0022 number. Does anybody know how MamaYama numbers these things? Do they use a different sequence of numbers for different regions within the US? It doesn't really matter, I'm just curious how it works. Anyone know?

Adios....

Woody

Actually, you are unlucky enough to have gotten one of the Chinee knock-offs, all of which carry the 022 vin due to some shortsided thinking on the part of the brilliant criminal minds that created these bikes. Engines empty too, amazing what can be done with an MP3 of a running Feej........ The tip off is a faint tick in the sound. :D

Woody, you have a PM !!!!

(Gee - is this related to the IMG of 17?)

Mebbe one of you got an A and the other an AE? Either that or you two are about to become very close friends...

I was thinking that it's probably not a good idea to post your VIN, but I guess it's on the bike where anyone can see it anyway.

That's what I was thinking - we don't know if Woody is waiting on an AE -

However, I did send him a PM with my VIN in it for comparo -

Gee - maybe I should go look in my garage? Wonky was there last night - I tucked her in !!

I'm guessing CA model vs normal bike. There is probably some other number in the front of the VIN that's different.

That or someone fell asleep at the VIN plate press... :lazy:

IIRC in previous years there were 2 or 3 groups of numbers (ie...XXXX12XXXX0001, XXXX10XXX0001) so there were duplicates on the last numbers.

That's what I recall - kinda. CA models v. the other 49 staters, but I thought that the last numbers were still sequential. Maybe the A v AE has changed that...

Just to clarify, my bike is an "A" and so is Kaitsdad's bike. And I think they are both 49 state versions. Kaitsdad and I exchanged VIN's via PM and found the numbers in the middle of the VIN are different. I'd still like to know what each of the digits in the complete VIN are. Does anyone know how to decode these things?

Adios.....

p.s. I ain't gonna lose any sleep over this. I talked to my salesman and my bike has been preped and is ready to be picked up. Come on quittin'time!

There could be up to eleven bikes with 0022 vin #'s ! The following quote is from HMarc's Mica Peak list. It happens every year, in fact at wfo 2 or 3 the lowest vin won a prize, but after the event another identical vin owner showed us his vin. He already had the door prize so graciously didn't speak up to allow the other vin owner to win the prize. B)

Note: some VINs may be duplicates due to there being about 11 (or more) different VIN prefixes being used for Canadian (JYARP07N*3A) , California (JYARP07Y*3A) and 49-states (JYARP07E*3A) model FJR1300s.
